  • Solid standup paddle board.
Style: Light Blue Penguin No Pump & Bag
This is a nice standup paddle board. The seams are solid, it is very lightweight, easy to carry to the water and doesn’t have any leaks. The board comes with 3 fins which keep it going in the direction you point it. The paddle is very nice, better than the ones that came with our kayak. The paddle is very adjustable to any length while on the water so you can sit down, kneel and stand up, all with different lengths. When you are done with the paddle board for the day it is easy to remove the fins, deflate and roll it up for storage. While they do give you an adapter that converts the SUP connector to a standard Schrader value, they don’t give you any sort of pump at all. I tried using the Schrader value with a manual bike tire pump, a battery-operated compressor and then my real compressor. Even using my real compressor, it takes a long time to get the volume of air you need through that Schrader valve and into the paddle board. Giving up on the Schrader valve, I tried using my manual kayak pump and I was able get the paddle board full but not with any real pressure. I ended up getting one of those electric pumps that are meant to inflate SUPs and Kayaks and that worked great. With that pump it only takes about 5 minutes to get the SUP to the correct pressure. They also gave me a strap to hold the folded-up paddle board together. But then I still have the fins hanging around with nowhere to put them. It would be better if this came with a bag of some sort, perhaps even big enough or with loops or something so I could keep the paddle with it. Overall, this is a good paddle board but lacks a couple of accessories. ... show more

  • Great for beginners!
Style: Light Blue Penguin No Pump & Bag
I recently moved into a pretty little cove and do not have a dock or a boat. I have a canoe, but it is too heavy to launch it by myself. So when I saw this, I was very curious about it. I have several friends who have them and assured me I would not face-plant into the lake! So I decided to give it a try. First, it is lightweight and fairly easy to maneuver by myself. It comes with a very nice lightweight and adjustable paddle. The SUP is made of very thick material and also comes with patches, just in case. Mine did not come with a pump or a bag. Obviously I knew I would need a pump for this, and luckily I have one. But I did not realize how much I would need a really large bag for this too. I am very much a beginner at all water sports and I am not the best of swimmers either. So I bought a nice life jacket made for paddling to go with this. It is a little late in the season to perfect my technique this year, but I am ready for next year. I will say that it is nice and wide - very sturdy and stable - and I was able to figure it out in a few minutes! It is nice to have something I can navigate by myself and it is a very relaxing way to explore the lake! Oh, and I did not face-plant either! Not yet, anyway. :) ... show more

  • My First Paddle Board, Impressed with Quality
Style: Dark Blue Penguin
The media could not be loaded. So I've grown up on the water, and love everything about it. I've kayaked most of my life, but noticed the popularity of paddle boards has exploded recently, so I thought I'd see what all the fuss is about. I was looking for a great entry-level paddle board that wouldn't break the bank, when I got the opportunity to trial this Tuxedo Sailor inflatable paddle board, I jumped at the opportunity. The first thing I did when unboxing was check to see how well it all fit in the carrying case. The case is ample large for the paddleboard and all of the required accessories (paddle, fins, pump, hose, etc). At first I thought the carrying case was too large, but then I thought about what else you would carry if you really were backpacking it somewhere (like a life vest, dry bag, etc), so it's probably the right size. I unrolled the inflatable paddle board, connected the bike pump and hose, and started pumping it up. It took me between 5-10 minutes to get the board inflated in the recommended range of 12-15psi. At 13 psi I felt like it was firm enough, and stopped there. I then installed the fins on the bottom with no issues. I then took the paddle board down to the saltwater creek at high tide and tried my luck on the board. It was definitely a challenge with the balance my first time on the board, and I managed to keep from falling over. I adjusted the paddle length a bit until I got it comfortable for me, and after a few minutes I was going up and down the creek with ease. The EVA foam padding on the top provides a good gripping surface for your feet (bare or with shoes). I'm about 225lbs and 6'-1" tall and getting my balance was interesting. I felt like the board did provide enough buoyancy for my weight, and the width of the board seemed to work with my center of mass. I found it much easier to make sharp turns by reversing rather than trying to force forward from one side. The fins definitely kept the board going in a mostly straight direction. I let my mom try it out as well and she was able to get the hang of it fairly quickly. Since I liked how compact and travel-ready this paddle board is, I also started brainstorming how I could have this double as a type of kayak. I sat on the board and used one of my kayak paddles and found it very easy to maneuver. I liked this so much that I plan to order some additional D-ring eyelets and glue them on this paddle board so that I can attach a kayak seat for some back support (this looks like it will be an inexpensive modification). After this initial use, I rinsed the board off and let it dry, the next day I checked it and it hadn't lost any pressure, so I feel confident that it is constructed well. It also packed back in the bag just as easy as it did before I inflated it. So far, I'm very pleased with my first paddle board, and can't wait to load this up on my upcoming trip to central Florida (to the springs I go). ... show more

  • Solid as a rock. Great innovation.
Style: Dark Blue Penguin
Have had a great time with this board. Very nice materials, and bag, and paddle. Everything folds up neatly in the bag for storage/travel. It has the ankle cable and everything you need to get on the water. The fins are easy in and out as well. Nicely designed. The picture is of me letting out the air with the hose by simply attaching that without the pump. It opens the valve when you put that on. But you can also simply open the valve by itself if you like, with a twist. It does take a great deal of patience to blow it up with the included large pump, but if you're going to be out with it for awhile it makes it worth it. I personally use an electric, low-amp air blower to get it started, but of course the low power of the little inflator makes it start whining when it gets to so much pressure, so then you know when to shut that off. So there is a bit of an upper body workout involved there with the pump. But the high quality of the build of this thing is terrific. ... show more
