Bye Bye H&R block
Well I made the mistake of buying a discounted H&R block back in January. So it's March and I am ready to complete my taxes and of course, it hits a snag. H&R has issues "error code 20". I have a 1 year old laptop with regular updates, but it kept giving issues. I called Amazon, they returned it for me and while there was some pushback, I was able to get the same promotional credit applied to the new Turbo Tax order. Now Turbo Tax isn't perfect....It seems to want to highlight "NO" in bright yellow (as if to click that) for everything even when it's a common tax need. But they have saved me 2 years in a row (last year I tried H&R block on my old computer and it glitched). TT for life. ... show more

Downloaded, installed, and worked perfectly for me
I just purchased the download version -- Deluxe for federal and state -- yesterday and already used it to prepare one return. Downloading, installation, and usage went flawlessly. Not a single issue or even glitch. Here are some important tips for anyone who is considering buying: --You can get your download from your Amazon account under the digital content area -- the same place where you would download things like ebooks. --In the area for your digital download it will also show your license number. This is what you enter into the program during installation. --Make sure you allow the installed program to automatically update. Between first installation yesterday and today, the program did two separate updates. --I had a question about how to manually enter some information about the preparer on the 1040. I was able to call TurboTax and get assistance pretty quickly. The woman who helped me was knowledgeable. It's possible that by the time I purchased the downloadable program on 4-12-23 that all kinks and glitches had been worked out by Intuit. It's possible that earlier purchasers and users of the program may have had issues with the program installing and working properly. But all I know is that I had zero issues with the program installing and working as of yesterday. I am very satisfied with how it's gone so far. I installed the program on a laptop running the latest version of Windows 11. If you have another operating system or version of Windows, your mileage may vary. ... show more

No surprises. Worked just like advertised
I've used TT most every year. I personally did not run into any problematic issues. Early on, I read many negative reviews that were related to download or activating the software. For that reason, I didn't buy this year's version right away. I monitored the reviews and the ones related to that issue seemed to disappear over time. Once that issue seemed resolved, I purchased TT. I had no trouble downloading the software, adding the subscription key or using the product. It worked just like it has always worked-- great. Some complained that you couldn't e-file your state return for free (just the federal return), but it has been that way for several years. I just print out the state return and mail it in instead of paying. No big deal. My experience has been 2 thumbs up. I gave this review only 4 stars because of the increased price this year. ... show more

Down loaded great once you see how to download it.
I have a fairly easy tax filing. I dont have any complicated of things to report. You have to know how to get the info you need like your Bank tax info and other. This was only the second time that I downloaded Turbo Tax and the first time from Amazon, which was cheaper than downloading from Turbo Tax directly. I had a slight problem trying to figure out how to download the program. I dont remember what it was, but I figured it out after going back and forth to the order confirmation. I have used Turbo tax for maybe 15yrs I am not sure? At least 13 yrs. for sure. It's always been easy to use because it explains things that you dont understand, which are very few. You can call and speak to a Turbo Tax rep if your really stuck. I have had to call them a couple times and they are very helpful and patient with you. I can tell you that it was a mistake that I made ea time that caused my problem. This year I was able to file my taxes using Turbo two days after the IRS was accepting returns. Turbo notified me that the IRS and my State had accepted my return the next day . My refund was processed and directly deposited to my bank acct. ten days later. I already spent 25% of it. ... show more

Easy to use
The first time I used the on-line download of InTuit TurboTax software was due to the outrageous cost increase when my former accountant sold his business and I did the same. When it doubled in cost (blame me for not checking beforehand) for a simple return. I was determined to do it on my own again like I did before opening my business. It was so easy, with many pieces of advice along the way, I did have to manually enter all my accounts: retirement, social security, pension, bank, etc. off all of the end of year 1099s and other info. The whole way through the process it is always ensuring the input and tracks your process. Red flags are raised when things don’t add up within the program and it automatically gives its best advice for the next step. In subsequent years each prior year return can populate your new tax return and let’s you add or subtract, account info if needed. From then on it is just transferring info from your latest 1099s into the appropriate box. At the end there is a final audit check. If all looks good you will find if you have a refund or tax liability (you can pay that online). Last step is to tap the “submit” and in a short while you will see if the IRS accepts your return. I haven’t ever used the help desk so can’t comment on that. Bottom line - the program gives you great feedback and reassurance that you have completed the forms correctly. ... show more

BEWARE - Will not work on Windows 11 (at least for me) - And support?? Forget about it.
I have used TurboTax for 15+ years, typically downloading from Amazon and previously purchasing the CD before download speeds made it easier. I have never had an issue downloading, installing, accessing and using the program ..... until now (except as detailed below on filing electronically a couple of years ago and still not sure if that was Intuit's issues or the IRS systems). This year for the 2022 tax year version, I have downloaded, installed (allegedly successfully per the program install wizard, and it shows as an installed app in Windows). BUT, tried to start the program ... and ....... NOTHING. A very brief 'flash' of a dialog box (best guess) but nothing loads or starts. Tried multiple times uninstalling, re-downloading, reinstalling ... all the typical easy 'fix-its' including ensuring everything was up-to-date across the Windows environment. Tried to find any sort of useful answers on Intuit's TurboTax Community help functions. Absolutely USELESS (IMHO) and extremely difficult to find any sort of realistic, even obscure fixes - although I finally gave up after spending an inordinate amount of time researching there and other sources to see if I could find an answer (see more researching issues on TurboTax's Community forum below if you're interested). Of course Amazon has no support options for this. Just contact TurboTax. So infuriating, irritating and frustrating. And I am NOT a computer illiterate - not an expert, but I can usually research, find possible fixes and apply them when I have issues. Not in this case. I'm running Windows 11 fully updated as well as all my other software and apps. But I cannot find the issue(s) that are making this maddening. Perhaps it's Intuit's issues with not fully testing and integrating their software with the newest Windows 11 versions. I noted in their "Help" articles that everything they referenced as possible systems issues and fixes referred to the prior versions of Windows - nothing relative to the current version of Windows 11. So? I downloaded the program files on my wife's older, Windows 10 desktop. Worked. No issues (at least so far). Going to have to ultimately move all the resulting tax files over to my computer when I'm done with everyone's taxes (ours and the kids) so I have one place to find all of our records and documentation (encrypted and fully backed up offsite, of course). But just an additional pain and steps to get this task completed (- and having to install additional encryption software on my wife's desktop, too). And as to TurboTax's "support"???? I've had to research prior years' issues on occasion, and have had similarly frustrating "support" experiences. Example: Our Federal and State taxes were not able to be filed electronically a couple of years ago because apparently Intuit's filing process screwed up the initial transmission to the IRS - which meant the state taxes were also a problem and rejected electronically. TurboTax continued to show that the files had been transmitted successfully, and I received their documentation that the files had been "Accepted" by the IRS and state taxing authorities. However, that was not the case. I even went to the extent of running IRS system extracts of our tax filing data – which of course showed that NOTHING had been filed with the IRS for those time periods. After many hours (probably days) trying to find answers and get 'support' from Intuit, I ended up having to file paper forms for two years with long and carefully worded cover letters to explain what apparently occurred, and with copies of TurboTax's documentation included showing the files had been accepted electronically. Of course that was just before when the IRS essentially shut down due to COVID so paper returns – as well-reported in the national news – had a massive backlog that was many months behind in processing paper returns (my only option, remember). Finally last year, I was able to file electronically after following a line of suggestions on the TurboTax Community forum to submit with a 'zero' AGI number - even though that was incorrect even per the TurboTax program. So beware of at least this version of the 2022 TurboTax in a Windows 11 environment, at least until Intuit can get their act together and properly test it to install on and use in Windows 11. And forget about getting any substantive support. Not happening. ... show more

Very easy to use.
It was very easy to download and then I used it to complete and file both my Federal and State income taxes. I think it's a bit of a rip off that you have to pay extra in the program to file your State taxes electronically. It was nice though that they then notify you when your return is accepted. I got my refunds fairly quickly. I'll be using it again this year for both Federal and State but I'll buy the basic version and I won't use it to file my state taxes. It's just as easy to print the paper form and mail it in for under a dollar. ... show more
