Wonderful! Excellent quality, but an expensive purchase. We purchased the 5ft x 10ft x 2in. Great for 14 year old doing gymnastics every single day. Wonderful for yoga/conditioning as well. Would also be very useful for people with babies and toddlers--great coverage for the floor in case of messy accidents, learning how to walk, and even great padding for parents and grandparents to sit on "floor" and play with the kids and grandkids! Edited to add: we have had this 2 years (roughly) and it is still very durable and great for practicing! Her tumbling has gotten more advanced and thus she's fallen more. It still absorbs her falls well! My daughter is a competitive cheerleader, but at 6 years old, she is still learning the tumbling fundamentals that go with the cheer world. After receiving multiple referrals to this mat, we decided to spring for it. We went with the 1 3/8 in, because again, it was suggested to be the better of the two. The 2 in (although it doesn't seem to be that different) is said to be not as firm, and firmness is needed in tumbling. First, shipment was crazy fast. We ordered on a Saturday, it was here Monday morning. It is easy to maneuver around. It is big enough to do any standing tumbling on, but small enough to easily store. The quality is insane. It is very different from the cheaper versions out there---you can tell this was made to stand the test of time. I also love that it has the ability to be safely and securely attached to other mats to make a longer tumbling track (which is perfect for practicing tumbling sequences). If you are worried about safety with the 1 3/8, my daughter doesn't always land her tumbling, and has not been injured nor said anything about it hurting when she does "fall". ... show more

This mats are professionally made with very high quality materials. I can tell the difference between this one and other cheaper mats. This will withstand years and years of heavy usage. No smell/odor like some mentioned in other reviews. We are keeping it in my daughters huge bedroom with no problems. Plus color is very bright and exactly like on he picture. One thing that would make it better is to have possibility to attach an other one on the side, to make it wider and not just longer. Otherwise it's perfect! ... show more

This is a great mat for gymnastics practice in the house. (Yes, I cringe as I type the 'in the house' part.) 9 year old can pull it out by herself and set it up with no problem. She's been using it nonstop since Christmas day. Some people mentioned a strong odor, but I don't smell anything that isn't expected with a gym mat. We bought our kids their first mat a few years ago. It’s held up very well and is still in like-new condition with tons of use. We bought a second when we got a gymnastic bar. A 4 in thick mat is what I read was suggested under the bar so we decided to get a second 2in mat to stack. Then they can remove the mats and Velcro them together when working on floor gymnastics. And it’s 4’ wide as opposed to many 4 in mats that are only 3’ wide. So the 4’ covers the width of the bar which makes me feel better. Wipes clean easy, dog usually stays off but his claws hasn’t hurt it when he has walked over it. Cushions enough without being too squishy. I bought this in 2013 to use for myself - 155lb, 5ft 10in woman. I use it every morning for stretching and weight PT exercises, and every evening for yoga. It still works great and the purple hasn’t faded. Over the years I’ve only wiped it down with water. It’s easy to fold and store in the closet when a guest stays in my yoga room. Bought this in 2013. We got the 2", and it has been perfect for kids' home gymnastics (handstands, cartwheels, roundoffs, rolls) as well as adults for home conditioning (sit ups, yoga, burpees, stretching, etc). We take good care of it, never rest heavy things like weights on it for too long, and make sure people using it aren't wearing anything sharp or damaging like zippers, buttons, etc. We mostly use it without shoes. The foam is responsive (not squishy), and has not depressed in any areas. The vinyl has not ripped, and isn't saggy. The mat still looks quite new.This is a gym-quality mat. If you care for it, it should hold up very well. I have seen many mats with much shorter lifespans. Very happy. ... show more

Received in time. Initial quality good. Some people complaining about smell and allergy. It does smell a little bit. I bought it for my granddaughter who is sensitive to some chemicals, but she was OK with this material and she uses it very often. She is using it for stretches and some martial arts practice. I can imagine that there could be people with some specific allergies but for an average person I think this is acceptable.. Very easy and lightweight to fold. Does not slip on a hardwood floor.
