I purchased this item even with the number of reviews indicating a difficult assembly with poor instructions. What sold me were the reviews noting how sturdy/solid it was once set up. I wanted to add a review here because I found the directions for assembly pretty straight forward. If you are trying to rush the assembly and only give the instructions partial attention, you will struggle. If you lay out the pieces and study the illustrations/instructions, you will be fine. You just have to think and match the illustration. Not every piece is labeled, but it's easy to figure out if you take the time at the beginning. My first concern when finding a shelf was to find one that held a lot of weight so I didn't lose a bunch of bottles in a disaster. This shelf system looks nice in my bar room and is pretty solid. Read the direction thoroughly and assembly should be relatively easy. Make sure to look at hole patterns on the pieces before added bolts, if you don't pay attention it will be frustrating because you will find yourself screwing and unscrewing pieces. It looks great and is sturdy once you get it assembled but the instructions aren’t helpful. A couple of pointers — when you attach the end with the bar in middle, lay the top shelf over it so you know you have the bar in the right direction. Second, you do not need those wood inserts. The shelves are secure without them and slide in easier. It’s a 2-3 hour build. They don’t include stickers to cover the screws so if that bothers you you’ll need to order separately. ... show more

The pictures in the instructions were so confusing it took me multiple attempts across the span of 3 days to assemble, but I got it nonetheless. Also took a bottle of wine and some muffled profanity. Absolutely gorgeous and extremely sturdy though! I would willingly do it again if I had to.

These bookcases are great. But like all of the other buyers commented, and I agree, the directions included only have Pictures and NO written instructions. I bought 2- the first one took 4 hours to complete; the second onne was completed in 2 hours.

Was looking for a replacement for our big bulky wooden book case (you know, the 200lb blocks that take up way too much space but don't really hold anything except clutter) this was close to exactly what I was looking for. There were an intimidating amount of pieces in the box but it was surprisingly easy to assemble, the directions offer the universal language of pictures, which I found more helpful than lengthy confusing written directions. All the hardware is included, even the Allen key and screwdriver, and they even give you and extra of each screw/ 2 extra wood pegs. (I broke the pegs on the first shelf I assembled so I was extremely happy about this feature). It also has screw in feet that can be used to level it. I love that this solving unit takes up less space and offers more storage space. It's open and clean looking. The only thing I wish was different is the shelves are fixed at 12in. It would be nice if they were adjustable but that a really minor flaw in my opinion. ... show more
