  • A nice and good construction helmet. A nice and good construction helmet.
A nice & good construction helmet which it should give good protection. Visor and clear shield are useful. Chin guard is a nice piece and optional add on. It is light weight the internal pads are removable for cleaning is a plus. It is hard to say all. Overall, a good value & I like the helmet. Thanks and recommendation. ... show more

  • Beats a $$$ Harley Helmet
Bought my first bike this year, a Harley - went for style over function and bought a half helm from the Harley store to go with it. $300 later, the chin strap attachment I had to get (I sucked at the ring-tying) sucks hard - I'm getting bugs lodged in my ears (I ride a lot in country fields), and I'm clinically deaf from the wind after a short 45-minute ride. Sizing Chart: The sizing chart is pretty accurate, I have a big head (lot of hot air in there I guess) and where I thought going a size up was going to be roomy it's actually quite snug but still comfortable. Chin Strap: Kicks the crap out of both the default ring on the Harley helmet as well as the additional clip I had to buy. You "un-snap" your chin strap similar to Ski boots...just lift and pull. Where the Harley Helmet moves a bunch when I'm over 50 mph, this helm stays put. Padding: Extremely comfortable - the snug fit makes it kinda tricky putting my glasses on after I put the helmet on, with an upside that the padding holds my glasses in place so there's no "nose sliding" as I look around. The padding is a little bit tight on my ears - but this helps for a more quiet ride. Visors: Clear visor is indeed super easy to remove. Tinted visor is a snug fit when down, very little if any air coming in under the visor. My only complaint here is that the sun glare can make visuals opaque - this is the only reason I gave it a 4 and not a 5 on comfort. Bear in mind - this is sun in the face at 6:00pm, midday it's good. Chin Guard: TONS of air flow coming in through the chin guard - literally feel the air moving to the back and around my head. At a price of $70 - you seriously can't go wrong with this helm. Love the design too - went with the green one, wouldn't go back. ... show more

  • Good for the money but for an only helmet
Size: Medium Color: Black
This is a Open faced helmet so don't expect full face protection. That being said it comes with a removable face plate, that gives protection from wind and rain. If you were to hit the face of the helmet with a baseball bat it may give you some more protection than nothing but I'm pretty sure the plate would break off after the first blow, I don't expect that face plate to be there after the first impact and once you start rolling along the asphalt its gonna be a Open face helmet. That being said it's been a nice across town commuter helmet, it's not quiet like a good full face high end helmet but it's not as loud as a AFX dual sport helmet, so it's tolerable. Air flow is fixed, no events to shut off, air flow is pretty good for hot climate here in Florida, I haven't rain tested it yet, I just got it so I can't comment. The way the clear visor attaches looks like a wear point to me and I don't trust it, I'm gonna run dark inner visor as a day helmet only for now. For the price the build quality is pretty good. The packaging was super basic it comes loose in a box inside its helmet bag, no foam packaging just bouncing around loose in a box but it came unharmed. Lenses are clear and distortion free.. great field of vision. Good helmet clasp kinda like off a seat belt . Lining is pretty good. Helmet itself looks very good when worn. Overall a good commuter open faced helmet for 100 bucks that is more like a 140 dollar Helmet, Its a pretty good open face for short money, this can't be your only helmet though, I wouldnt run this 100mph+ or long hauls on the freeway for hours.. a little too noisy and not enough high speed protection. Across town commuting and short hauls only, if you want a real do it all helmet for short money get something like a Icon Alliance or better.. ... show more

  • It’s more for looks than anything else It’s more for looks than anything else
Size: Large Color: White
I have a 60cm head and the size large fit perfectly and is comfortable and light. The jaw piece is indeed very close to your nose and chin but isn’t bothersome. The jaw piece wasn’t loose or flimsy like others have stated, neither was the clear visor. The built in sunshades aren’t overly tinted and I could see perfectly fine riding after sunset using them. Overall the helmet isn’t as sturdy as a $350 Bell brand helmet but for $89 it’s pretty good. My only real problem with this helmet is that when the clear visor is flicked up, once you reach 40mph, a loud ear piercing whistling noise occurs. That was a deal breaker for me so I removed it entirely but I don’t care too much as the helmet looks far better without it attached. Removing the clear visor did chip the paint on the side of the helmet and the mounting pieces aren’t exactly solid either. But when you put it back on it stays in place perfectly fine. The ventilation is good and I didn’t experience any significant fogging while riding. I wouldn’t recommend the helmet for long distance touring or for strenuous use over several years, but for the price you pay it’s definitely a neat looking around town option and I’m happy with how it looks. ... show more

  • Update: Think of it as more of a quality 3/4 helmet than Modular.
Size: X-Large Color: Black
Update: I was a little harsh in my initial review as I was disappointed with the chin guard part of this helmet. I have since wore it a few times as just a 3/4 and I have to say, it’s a great 3/4 helmet! If you’re looking for an affordable 3/4, this is a legitimate option. The face guard should be considered a side bonus. It’s not easy to put on, helmet should be off when putting that on. Then I like to sip water when I ride, this doesn’t lift, so I need a straw lol. So opt for the ILM version if you want a true modular with a tuck away face shield. PROS: Helmet looks great, the included visors work well and the outside clear cover does a great job of blocking the wind. CONS: because of the sunglass toggle switch, you can’t put a Bluetooth device in the usual side location. I had to put it almost in the back of my head, lol, the mic barely reaches. I recommend the ILM version if you’re looking for an affordable Modular to 3/4 face convertible helmet, the one where you can put the chin guard part all the up and behind to the back in a locking position, so it’s out of the way and you can alternate easily between a 3/4 and full face. ... show more

  • Read this before purchasing this helmet! Your life could depend on it.
Size: XX-Large Color: Black
The plus on this helmet is it looks cool. That's it. The minuses are WAY TOO MANY. I gave this 2 stars then as I typed I had to bring it down to 1 star. The part that covers your face is so flimsy that if you did fall your going to get smashed in the face. The face piece is held in on both sides with plastic mechanisms. It's hard to get in to the socket when the helmet is off. Impossible when the helmet is on. The buttons to release the face piece is right next to the sun shade button.. good luck getting the right one with gloves on and traveling down the road. You'll end up with 1 side of the face piece dangling off till you stop, take your gloves off, remove the helmet, snap it back in, put the helmet back on, then gloves then head on your way... simple. Now that we have discussed functionality lets do comfort. The face piece is directly in front of your nose. if you push on the helmet even slightly you feel the pressure on your nose. There are NO vents at all. It was 80f out side yesterday, first real warm day since I got this. I was sweating all around my head on a 20 min ride from work.. with the clear face shield up! It says DOT approved on the back but I do not trust this helmet at all. you can remove the face piece without hitting any of the buttons, it just pulls off. I have uploaded a video showing everything I have discussed. This does explain why it's a "frequently returned Item" ... show more

  • Super comfortable, quiet, and convenient Super comfortable, quiet, and convenient
Size: Large Color: Black
I'm coming to this $70 helmet from a helmet that cost me around 500 with accessories (blue chrome face shield, spoiler, transitions drop down shades) On paper it shouldn't really be a comparison, but in practice the icon air flight is worse than almost every single way. To start with the icon makes me look like a bobblehead because they only have a couple of shell sizes and on top of that due to how narrow icons helmets are, I had to get a size bigger than I would normally get. Now it's probably a good time to point out this triangle helmet runs true to size (I've had other cheap helmets where I needed to order a larger size to fit my 68cm head. Even with ordering a size larger than I needed on paper, the icon fit so tight It gave me a headaches for months after I got it and I ended up having to change out some of the pads to give me more room. A second thing I'd like to mention is how good the cutouts for communicators are on the triangle helmet. Not only are they recessed deep enough that any communicators speakers should be nearly flush but they even have cable management built in. Again, the icon air flight loses here because although it does have very shallow indents for speakers (I mean so shallow the velcro fills them) The helmet is so narrow that it presses them into your temples, also for whatever reason they were way farther back then mine or anybody I know is ears and I had to move them way forward so I could actually hear anything. The triangle helmet lets the speakers be almost flush with the side of the helmet but it also has extra padding around them. That really keeps the sound of your speaker contained so you can hear it clearly. Moving on from the topic of hearing your communicators. It's a whole lot easier to hear my communicator with the triangle helmet because it's so much quieter than the icon air flight. Look, I know the icon air flight is not known for being super quiet but even after the seal mod (adding a gasket across the top seal to prevent whistling at high speed when the shield is down) I would probably be underestimating to say the triangle is half as noisy at interstate speeds as the icon is. I will however say that with the clear outer shield up the triangle tends to whistle around 45 mph but the inner shades on the triangle actually sealed to the front plate making it quiet and keeping everything out so I've actually ended up taking the clear shield off and keeping it in my in my bag in case I get caught out at night (triangle if you make replacements for the integrated shades in different colors, let me know because I would love to buy some, transitions would be amazing but I would settle for a yellow if it could swap out easily) Moving on from the wind noise making me deaf as the speakers dig into my head on the icon, comfort... This is normally where cheaper helmets fail I've had a few cheap helmets and the liners are always terrible. Usually some kind of mesh that feels like a brillo pad and pulls my whiskers but whatever triangle is using here is amazing It's some sort of quilted athletic fabric on top of memory foam (like actual memory foam, you press your hand in and it leaves a print that takes a couple seconds to go away) not only the fabric softer than what icon is using but the foam feels way nicer too (It does feel weirdly stiff and crunchy if it's cold though, although it seems to be extra soft after it warms to body temp) on the subject of temperature I was afraid this helmet would be hot and with the clear face shield down it can be (again the drop downs seal so the clear shield's unnecessary anyway) the vents on the jawline move a crap ton of air and It can actually draw an error above the drop downs and I can feel it moving all the way to the back over the top of my shaved head. It looks like it has a MIPS system but I don't believe it does and they don't advertise it as such. So I think that's actually some type of ducting to let the air flow all the way around your head and it works really good even though there are no obvious vents. I also love the ratchet mechanism on the clasp. At first I didn't trust it, but I actually put a foot in the helmet and pulled as hard as I could and it didn't break (My neck would probably break first) It seems like if enough force was applied to break it, my neck would go with it anyway so it wouldn't be my problem anymore but it is freaking amazing compared to the d-rings I'm used to takes like less than a second every time and I can put it on and take it off easily with gloves (I have it adjusted a bit too tight so that every time I put it on I'm actually adjusting the proper tension) also the nice red pull tab for removing. It is normally tucked away so I don't think it could possibly get pulled in an accident but it would make the helmet way easier for EMTs or somebody to remove if it needed to be. I'm going to throw it out there as not really positive or negative, but when I ordered it I was a little concerned that the very aggressive. Looking visor window might restrict my vision but because the helmet is so round and the visor is so close to my eyes, I actually have a better field of view than I do with the icon. The chin bar is close enough and low enough that it disappears after a a couple minutes (only the very center sticks up high enough to be seen) but also because it seals up against the bottom of the sun glasses. There is no glare underneath the shades like my icon. Although I have heaps of praise for this helmet, it's not 100% perfect. The slide controls are my main issue, It is extremely easy to accidentally disconnect one side of the chin bar while trying to open or close the drop down shades and while I'm talking about the drop down shades although I like the mechanism better than what icon is using (doesn't rattle or bounce) I'm not a huge fan of the actual slide itself not only is it a bit stiff and hard to work with gloves, but it's also right below the only flat spot on the side of the helmet that is practical to mount a communicator meaning depending on the wiring setup of your communicator you'll be getting your cables tangled in it as you fumble around with your gloved hands trying to get it up or down. While I'm mentioning the communicator and downsides together, I should also mentioned that the inside of the chin bar is made out of a very slippery feeling plastic and even though there is a recess for your microphone (perfect size I might add) the plastic was too slippery for the adhesive on the velcro pads for my microphone (Yes, I use alcohol wipes beforehand and everything) I ended up just hot gluing the velcrov pad to it and that has been working fine for over a month, but it is something to note that you might want to scuff it up with sandpaper or something first. My third and final complaint is yet again to do with the chin bar(So if you're removing it It's basically a 10 out of 10) but I have a very native American Jewish nose and although it's not uncomfortable, my nose does just barely touch that front bar (It literally fits in the pocket that is labeled cyail) Overall I gave it a five star rating but it would probably be a 9 out of 10 if we were able to be a more precise. The only thing I would change if I was redesigning it would be the position of the slider that operates the sun visor and maybe selling some additional visors or chin bars for customization? ... show more
