Description

The Borea BR02 bookshelf speakers are the most compact speakers of the range. It fits easily on a dedicated stand (S02/S04), your bookshelf, or most other furniture. A perfect introduction to the world of hi-fi, this small speaker will surprise you by the immersion and sound amplitude it provides. Equipped with a 25mm EFS silk dome tweeter and a 13cm transducer with a natural cellulose paper membrane, this speaker transposes all the richness of the voices and instruments tones, while maintaining a surprising bass level for its reduced size. It will fit perfectly in rooms of up to 20m2, offering the dynamism and energy emblematic of Triangle. The BR02 can also be used as an effect channel (Surround or Atmos) in home theater setups.EFS TweeterThe tweeter of the Borea range is equipped with a next-generation system called EFS (Efficient Flow System). It is based on the association of a 25mm silk dome, known for its neutrality, with a phase plug developed specifically to homogenize high-frequency diffusion. This system significantly reduces the directivity regardless of your listening location in the room.Midrange in Natural CelluloseThe Borea BR02 incorporates a midrange driver with a membrane made out of 100% natural cellulose paper, receiving no surface treatment. This paper membrane, unique to Triangle, avoids any coloration of the intermediate frequencies and transposes the voices with stunning realism and tonality.Magnetic GrillThe Borea BR02 has a magnetic protective grill, showing no visible inserts or screws. It is recommended to remove the grills when listening to the speakers, as they can impact the sound.

  • Top Shelf Sound
Color: Black Ash
Right out of the gate these slightly warm, neutral but balanced and detailed speakers earned their keep. They'll only improve with more playing time. Sound staging, imaging and separation are excellent. They're forward but not at all "in your face." To my ears the Triangle Borea BR02 fabric dome tweeters sound as pleasant as the horn loaded compression tweeters in the highly regarded JBL Studio 530's. The Triangles are a real treat and sound "just right." In my opinion, the BR02's are bona fide audiophile contenders in the $200 to $300/pair price range. ... show more

  • Real HIFI speakers for sure
Color: Light Oak
BR02 is a pair of serious HIFI speakers, smooth mid-range, warm bass, clear treble extension. The sound quality is much better than my expectations, The size perfectly fits my IKEA shelf. Couldn’t love this beauty anymore. Pros: - Very neutral sound signature, no color added to vocal - A bit warm at low-mid range, good quality for music listening - 5' woofer, 12" tall, but sounds like floor standing speakers, not thin at all, impressive! - Nice modern looking, fit my IKEA shelf very well - Easy driving, works with my Denon S950H receiver flawlessly Cons: - No complain at all, the bass can fill the room at reasonable volume More: Compare with this French beauty, the overrated Sony CS5 sounds colored and small ... show more

  • Warm sound
Color: White
I purchased these really to fit in my bookshelves and match my color scheme and I knew Triangle had a good rep. They have decent bass and the treble is there. They are in my opinion a smooth sounding speaker, definitely not bright or exciting ( Klipch,Elac, Monitor Audio ) If you're looking for concert level performance speakers, look elsewhere, but if you want a non-fatiguing, listen all day speaker that looks good and has good quality, this may be for you. They are worth the money I paid but not worth their full retail price. ... show more

  • Not a Unicorn but a decent budget speaker
Color: Black Ash
I have previous model Focals and Triangle speakers. I received an open box speaker and thought to give it a try. When I first hooked it up it was a wow moment. These do play like a larger speaker but after continued listening I felt the tone was off just a bit and these are definitely a bit veiled in comparisons which is expected at their price point. The Borea 2 sound nice enough but I think the older Color series in gloss finish and the more budget appearing Plaisir Zetas are better performers. I have the Plaisir Zetas and they give more detail and resolution IMO plus a more musical, ethereal sound for music and movies. If you can find these mentioned speakers used for a fair price buy them. There's something about todays' budget speakers that they appear to show competence in a particular area or two but falter in other ways. Tried many and felt this way about them. Can't fault Triangle for the effort in the Borea series. How should I rate it? A 3 should reflect average, 4 above average and 5 representing competence for the price point. I wouldn't give the Borea 2 a three or a five. For the sale price of 349 or lower, a four for value. Overall SQ, a 3.5 as they do sound a bit bigger. Yes, these do have a noticeable midbass hump. Decent sensitivity counts. But the tone seems off a bit as well as having less detail and resolution, as many others display at lower price points. Somewhat exciting sound at times, not laid back. There are worse choices and others give a more competent performance in other areas and less so in others. For the discounted price point, it approaches four out of five. What's a five at their price point? Not too sure. Alot of budget options with alot of flavors today, better in some ways, worse in others. Sending these back because they can't outperform what I have now and it is a budget speaker. Still, the Borea 2 is a nice enough budget speaker. I repeat, a budget speaker offering decent performance, above average in sounding like a larger standmount speaker in comparison to others. That's my take. ... show more

  • Great nearfield speakers, but lacking a little something
Color: Black Ash
I bought these along with KEF Q150s for a desktop nearfield 2.1 setup. Primary use is music. Overall, I really enjoyed these speakers, but through listening to music on them and comparing to the Q150s, I was disappointed particularly in their high frequency roll-off. It was especially noticeable on vocals. I also found the Q150s had better vocal clarity during TV/movie use. I will say that these issues were a little nitpicky and I only really picked them out by doing a side-by-side comparison with the other speakers, so listening in isolation, I do think these would do more than well. I really liked them in the nearfield use and they also worked well at lower volumes. I also loved the aesthetics, although I do wish the fake wood finish were a bit more subdued or closer to a matte. ... show more

  • High quality speakers
Color: Walnut
Using in a desktop setup, very satisfied with the sound quality! Some may find the treble is a little bright but this can be adjusted by changing positions and angles of the speaker to your likings. The soundstage and imaging is amazing! When I played Adele's I drink wine, it was quite a surprise that I find the singer is right in the middle with two rows of backing vocals on the left and the right, an experience I never had before. Previously with my desktop speakers, the sound just exists without direction or position. The soundstage and imaging thing is a very pleasant add to the overall listening experience. ... show more

  • Great speakers for the Money
Color: Walnut
The sound is very even at reasonable volumes. When I listened to "Live at Leeds" extremely loudly it got a little muddy, but that could have been from it being a live recording. Jeff Beck"s Blow By Blow was clear through and through at all volumes. Sound-wise you may have to fool with your preamp if you like a lot of base. The room I have them in is about 15'x20' and they do well there. You will definitely need speaker stands and they will need to be placed away from a back wall. I was able to get these on sale and am extremely happy. A note though, I'm sure that my hearing, especially the higher frequencies, is lacking...years of headphones at high volume, alas. ... show more
