The fit is pretty great. When installing, the instructions recommend you use a Tapered Body Reamer (part#3433) Sounds like a way for Traxxas to sell another add-on. You can just use a tiny drill bit to pilot the holes. I would recommend doing it over a flat surface like wood to eliminate body flex.

If you don't have one of these, just get one. They are easy to install and add significant protection to your Xmaxx. Plus it looks good.

A must for the x Maxx. With out this skid plate your body shell will not last. Buy 2. It's completely worth it over the cost of a shell
