My metal rear bumper has pre-drilled holes for mounting the antenna, but due to the other scale accessories already installed in the rear area, I had to drill a new hole on the left corner of the bumper. Otherwise I would not need to drill any hole. But once the hole was drilled and the antenna was installed, it was secured easily and the metal of the antenna is very rigid and appears as though it will be durable. I had to bend it a bit by hand to clear my fire extinguisher and I had to use a decent amount of force to bend it a bit.
