  • Travelpro Tourlite Carry On
Color: Deep Purple Size: Carry-On 21-Inch
I have an old "Ricardo Beverly Hills" black soft side 4 wheel that I picked up 12+ years ago at a Kohls (or one of those type stores) as a carry on (from now on referred to as old suitcase--OS). It worked pretty well, and I didn't travel as much then. Since Covid, I'm traveling much more often, both Internationally and domestically, and the wheels are starting to give out and the telescoping handle is starting to stick. So I've been eyeing Travelpro--specifically the Crew Classic carry on. It went on sale over the holidays so I ordered one. It was very nice, well constructed, classy. However, it was a full pound heavier than my OS--7.7lbs empty, to be exact (don't believe the website, I weighed it myself with a handheld scale). Well, many Asian and European airlines have weight limits for their carry ons (7kgs/15lbs), plus I'm 60 and short and weight matters lifting those suckers over my head. (I only bring carry-ons--for what I do I can't chance losing all my stuff to baggage purgatory.) So I went back to Amazon and found this suitcase--the Tourlite Softside. You can't find it on the Travelpro website, so I think it isn't made anymore. It was $90 cheaper than the Crew (even on sale), and a pretty color (purple), so I ordered it. It's the same size as the Crew, but a full 2lbs lighter (5.6#). Lighter even than the OS. In comparison to packing volume, the TP is the same hight and depth but an inch narrower. It makes up packing volume by dropping part of the case down between the wheels, while OS is basically a box with 4 wheels attached. I still think it loses a bit from the wheel wells, but the inside measurement of the hight is an inch higher than the OS, so I think the volume is very close. Wheels roll at the lightest touch, and handle telescope is solid. I also like that the large front pocket is larger than the OS, so you can slide full sized paperwork into it, plus it has a small top outside pocket for small stuff you need to reach easily. The OS has shoe pockets on the inside of the lid, which I prefer, but I can adjust the one large inside pocket since it does have a small zippered pocket inside the larger cavity. What I really like it the expansion zipper goes around the bottom, making the case more stable when expanded, while the OS had it's expansion zipper over the top, make it less stable when expanded. I suspect that the Crew is a little more well made and would last longer, and if you travel domestically only I would still recommend it--but I couldn't tolerate the extra weight. I purchased a July carry-on last year for my trip to Australia, since the Light is only 3.4lbs, but it is hard sided and very small, which severely limits how much you can fit in it. I still use it for overnight/2 night trips sometimes, but I need more space for the 4-5 days I usually spend in Asia. I have only used it a few times so far, but it's worked well for me and I look forward to another decade of hard use. ... show more

  • roomy, rolls nice, many nice features
Color: Blue Size: Carry-On 21-Inch
This is the third suitcase I've bought: bought 2 (26" & 21") initially for cruise, then bought another 26" for my sister. Just now bought another small one as carry on for Amtrak trips. Suitcases are light weight, are nice & deep to hold lots of stuff, and the outside pockets are very roomy & easy to get into for quick items. They roll very easy & are easy to guide, although there is the expected drag when going over carpets, but are much easier to push than my old suitcases! Love the extra "handles" on sides, and especially, the bottom: makes loading into trunk & overhead bins so much easier. Only complaint I have is that the zipper on the outer pocket of the original large suitcase jammed after our 4th trip, but fortunately, it's jammed only about 3" near the base & the rest of the zipper is functional, so we still have reasonable access to the pocket. We love the blue color & have added decorated ribbon to the sides for easy ID at the airports, etc. Love the four wheels--no more weight on our hands & wrists! However, the wheels roll very easily, so keep on eye on the cases when on tile/cement, as they can "creep away". We have also found that the handles extend easily and have 2 heights and are great to strap backpacks &small baggage to. Also, these bags don't tip over unless you unbalance them with too much strapped-on totes (your fault, not the bag's). The extension feature is also well appreciated & doesn't compromise the look (no bulky appearance) or balance of the bag. ... show more

  • TravelPro Wins
Color: Black Size: Checked-Large 29-Inch
About 20 years ago, I joined a consulting firm that required a lot of travel and my research found that “TravelPro” was the best line of luggage one could buy. I bought a carry on and a 25” suitcase from TravelPro. To this day, I have never had an issue with those pieces of luggage. The fabric is durable, zippers work great, wheels roll smoothly, and the extension handle works perfeclty. As I get older, I noticed that is is very uncomfortable and almost painful to pull luggage without spinner wheels. While my two TravelPro suitcases still work great, I decided to get one with spinner wheels. I see people in the airport walking with ease with their suitcase rolling along side them and I feel a pang of jealousy. This suitcase is great. The spinner wheels work great. The suitcase is also super light. I was considering the 25” Platinum Elite Softside with Spinner Wheels but that weighs 9.7 lbs whereas this one weighs 7.3 pounds (based on Amazon Product Information). I bought this one and when I took it out of the box, I felt that either my pilates sessions are paying off and I’m super strong or this suitcase is super light. I have packed this one up to 65.5 lbs. and while it is heavy to get off the baggage claim merry-go-round, once you have this standing up on its wheels, you can move around super easily. I thought that this would have less packing space than my existing 25” TravelPro. It looks smaller. But I was able to pack sneakers, shower slippers, clothes, a weighted blanket, two bottles of wine, and 4 bottles of craft beer in this suitcase without issue. I have always used soft side suitcases and I love the 2” expansion space on TravelPro’s 25” suitcases. I highly recommend this suitcase. The cost is reasonable, the brand is durable and reliable, the spinner wheels allow me to move around without shoulder pain/strain, and this suitcase is super light. ... show more

  • Sturdy and lightweight.
Color: Deep Purple Size: Carry-On 21-Inch
Light, sturdy, rolls well, and nice to have a color different from the standard black or blue. I’m a ‘late boarding groups’, traveller, so i have to frequently gate-check my roller, and it’s done very well. It’s also much easier to roll through crowded airports for tight connections when I don’t have to gate-check. ... show more

  • Nice Purple Suitcase!
Color: Deep Purple Size: Checked-Medium 25-Inch
I have used this suitcase one time for a 12 day trip. It was lightweight and the 365 wheels are great. It was pretty effortless to maneuver. I got the purple color, which is a darker and subdued color that I like. The one problem is I had a little difficulty zipping the zipper around corners of the suitcase, especially on the left side. It may be to do with how I had my things packed. It just took a small effort to get the zipper to go. Overall, I like it and it is so much easier to move around than my old heavy suitcase that had cracked wheels! ... show more

  • Over-packers anonymous official suitcase! lol
Color: Black Size: Checked-Large 29-Inch
Official suitcase of the over-packers anonymous club (of which my wife and I are lifetime members!). I Googled for hours to determine which company made the largest and lightest suitcase available. At the time, this was it -- maybe there are companies that have shaved an ounce or gram off since then, but I doubt it. This suit case lets you pack an extra five to 10 pounds more than your old suitcase. It rolls like a dream. One drawback: not separate section with a hook -- but I just put my suits and shirts in suit zip-up thingy -- you know the one they give you when you buy your suits, and fold it on top. No problem. If low weight so you can pack more crap is your goal -- this is your beast of a suitcase. Best of all, the rolling is slick and effortless. Really well made. Was so impressed with this one, I purchased two more. ... show more

  • BUYER BEWARE: DO NOT PURCHASE any TRAVELPRO PRODUCT
Color: Blue Size: Checked-Medium 25-Inch
ZERO STARS... WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE OF ALL TIME! AVOID TravelPro. Pay more $ for any other brand and save yourself the headache of dealing with them. I have been a LOYAL purchaser of TravelPro for over 25 years. They have lost my business and will NEVER be able to regain my trust. My first purchase was a roller board which I used for over 20 years with no issues or complaints. The wheels were easy to replace and it was an awesome bag. I have recommended them to many family and friends but am now embarrassed by the recommendation. My recent 25" spinner bag lasted 2 trips before the airline damaged the handle. It should be an easy repair / fix, but I can't get a simple repair part. The bag is now sitting in a 3rd world country making its way to a landfill. I can't believe that they even publish a customer support number, because they disconnect you without an option to speak with someone. The Online Chat feature is useless as it is an AI bot, that simply directs you to the customer service portal to enter your info, to only go into a BLACK HOLE! They say they will respond within 3 biz days, but it has been 3 months and I entered 3 separate entries with ZERO response. They do have authorized repair centers, but they ONLY take walk in's. You cannot ship to them for repair.... the closest repair center to me is 4 hours drive. On the website, it directs you to Amazon to purchase replacement parts... What??? You go to amazon and there are NO replacement parts there. I am done with TravelPro. This has to be one of the worst purchases I have ever made! Do some research and you will find better options that will be there for you when you need them. ... show more
