Description

A Hybrid Acoustic and Electric Travel guitarThe Pro-Series represents Traveler Guitar’s original production model and remains a standard of innovation and design for travel guitars. The proprietary In-Body Tuning System uses standard tuning machines relocated into the body, eliminating the need for a headstock. As a result, you’ll have the same full-scale playing experience you’re used to on an instrument that’s 28% shorter and 64% lighter than a typical full size electric. If you have ever wanted to have both an acoustic and electric guitar in one, the Pro-Series is for you. It features a custom piezo pickup (like standard acoustic/acoustic electric guitars) and a single-coil electric pickup, so you can play a breadth of tones and styles with just one instrument. The 24 ¾-inch scale neck-through body sounds great through acoustic and electric amplifiers, or through its unique internal resonant pickup system with the included stethophone headset, which allows for private listening without batteries or an amp. The lap rest is detachable for easy transport, so guitar and bag fit easily in an airline overhead compartment.

  • In love with this thing!
Color: Antique Brown Style: Black Walnut Fretboard Pattern Name: Fretboard
I'M IN LOVE! Just got this thing yesterday and I can't put it down. I'm just hoping it will pass the test of time. First off, let me start by saying that this definitely shouldn't be your first guitar. It's something that you want for practicing while you travel. That said, I do plan to use it on stage as well cause it looks so cool and its bright tone can come in handy on folk/blues/bluegrass tunes. Secondly, I agree with those complaining about the location of the headphone jack, but a cable with a right-angled (L shaped) plug takes care of that. I suggest that the manufacturer change the location on future models. Lastly, in terms of ergonomics and weight balance, while it's not as great a full body guitar, I still find it very comfortable for what it is. I can play it comfortably standing up, sitting, and lying down. That said, I've been playing for 15+ years so I do see this being a bit more problematic for beginners. There are a few good methods for playing an instrument like this (assuming that you're right handed): Option 1 - With the lap rest on your right leg, you can put your elbow on the top of the instrument and easily strum/pick right above the neck Option 2 - With the lap rest on your left leg (the way classical guitarists play), you can rest your elbow on your right leg and can pick/strum freely anywhere Option 3 - Wear a strap, and you'll have the same freedom and range of movement as option 2 whether you're sitting or standing With that out of the way, here are the pros and cons in my opinion. PROS - Small, portable, light - Sturdy and good build quality - Great sounding acoustic pickup - Looks weird, in a good way! It's a piece of art in and off itself. - Great bang for the buck CONS - The action was a bit high out-of-the-box, but that was easy to adjust using the truss rod tool that was included - The stethophone is meh... but I still do appreciate having that option for practicing without having to plug it in - The electric single-coil pickup doesn't sound that great, but I was planning to replace that later anyway ... show more

  • AWESOME travel size guitar, versatile and well made!
Color: Maple Style: Rosewood Fretboard Pattern Name: Fretboard
As a beginner guitarist practice is everything, and this guitar allows access to practice just about anywhere! I take a 45 minute lunch break and I would eat, walk across the street to get coffee and practice outside with the stethophones in playing in the fall breeze. As winter came on I hesitantly went inside and started practicing there, I was worried about the noise bothering others but no one paid any attention at all (great for a beginner like me!). The sound in the stethophones is really great, I found it to be very pleasant like an acoustic but not boomy and not tinny, just right. It is compact as heck! I haven't taken it on an airline yet but I don't see any problems when that time comes. The build quality is top notch, I wouldn't change a thing about the wood and metal used for assembly. The leg-rest attaches securely and feels very nice (I thought about adding a little strip of grippy rubber for my work slacks but never did, it's fine with jeans). The tuners are nice and easily adjusted in the body. The fretboard is nicely finished and feels great, strap attachment is nicely done as well. I am fairly new to the electric guitar scene and still figuring out tones and amps and whatnot so take this last bit with a grain of salt... I had trouble getting a full sound out of the single coil on this guitar, whether using just the single, or blending it and the piezo pickup I haven't gotten it dialed in yet (I have head a number of street performers using these that have no problem getting good tone with the stock pickups so I just need to find the right combo for this one, I'm used to a dual humbucker Les Paul). I have heard people complain about the "balance" of these and honestly I don't understand where they're coming from, it's a SUPER compact guitar it's bound to sit a little different than what you're used to, just get a strap with a little grip on your shoulder and it's fine. Like I said, if there is any negative to these little things it's that it may take a bit to dial in your tone. I STRONGLY recommend these to anyone in need of a travel guitar, and I would LOVE to try out and review their acoustics one day! ... show more
