I needed a helping hand to lift the gate on my landscape trailer after adding some extensions on the ramp as it was getting too heavy for one person. I bought this unit and installed it myself with no problems. It works just as described and is a life saver! As others have mentioned the instructions are a bit lacking but they are conversions from Asian language, so you will have that. Just use common sense. Received and installed this Lift Assist kit today. I'm wondering why I waited so long! Install was relatively painless, and instructions were clear and very detailed. Too detailed! But anyone with any mechanical skills at all should be able to handle this easily. One possible hiccup for some may be the length of the mounting bolts. They are longer carriage bolts meant for mounting on tube rails with the top part of the bolt not threaded. My rails are angle iron. I just replaced them with same size, but shorter, full threaded carriage bolts. No big issue. Quality seems very high. Time will tell, but this seems like an outstanding deal for a well-made and back saving new addition to my trailer. Works like a dream with fingertips now! ... show more

Works great on my 6×10 utility trailer, I mounted the cable bolts 30" high on the gate, but when both springs on each side attached, the spring was too tight and gate would not stay on the ground. Went back and only inserted the pin thru the large sitting only. Works perfect now.

Lift was easy to install after I bought the right hardware to fit my trailer. The bolts that came with the kit were not correct for my trailer. The bolts were not threaded fully.
