So before I leave a review I'd like to talk about the authors note. As a long time fan of virgil he's pretty quirky and unique with his ideas. Ive seen him posting about this project for ages on patreon. So I cringe when I saw the other trailer park book that got released recently. Imagine my pleasant surprise when I saw an authors note from that author in this book pretty cool of them. REVIEW:NOW THEN unto the review. This book is pretty great I feel like virgil just looks for the most random premise to write books and somehow nails it lol. This a post apocalyptic setting with all kinds of monsters and beasties but still nails that slice of post apocalyptic life vibe. The characters are fun and the story is interesting. I had alot of good laughs and threre was even some tense moments sprinkled in. I am very much looking forward to book 2! ... show more

    • More Than Expected!

This was an unexpected pleasure, and a lot of fun! Comparisons to the other two series mentioned in the Foreword are unavoidable if you have read either of them previously, of course. But this first book feels very much like its own thing, in a lot of good ways. The world and lore we get to see are interesting, a mix of hidden supernatural and zombie apocalypse that pulled me in quickly. Magic is there, but it’s subtle for the most part when it is seen. No flashy fireballs or creating mansions with a wave of the hand here. Yes, it has plenty of silliness and spice, but those mainly serve to break up the slice of life bad building and all the danger, which is a good thing. Dean is my favorite kind of MC, a good guy with some knowledge and talent, but not an overpowered Giga Chad. He also doesn’t make stupid choices just to up the drama, which I also respect and prefer. Add in the zany and fun supporting cast of ladies and you have a story I liked way more than I expected from the title. Absolutely looking forward to book 2! ... show more
