The original thermostat on my Traeger Pellet Grill was chewed through twice by rats. I was able to splice it the first time, but the second time I decided to just get a new one. I also rat proofed my Traeger with 1/2" mesh heavy screen in several key places. The drip spout, the chimney and the small section between the pellet tank and the grill had to be protected from rats. Does what it is intended for. Got my Traeger up and running again and the rIbs came out FINE! Pretty simple to install. Remove 4 easy to get to screws, 2 on the inside where the probe goes and 2 on the outside at the control box. Mount the probe, run the wire and plug in to the back of the control panel.     • NAME BRAND PERFORMANCE WITHOUT NAME BRAND
After several years of great service my Traeger smoker finally stopped working. I was getting the Err message on the control panel. After a little research and a call to customer service I decided the problem was probably the RTD probe. I could have gotten a replacement part from Traeger but it would have been more expensive and I would have had to pay for shipping. I ordered this on Amazon because it says it is a "Traeger". It is not. However, I was in a bind so I used the product that was sent. It was an easy replacement. It took 15 minutes to replace because the small bolt mounting the original probe was a little rusty and difficult to remove. It could have been done in 5 minutes. I have done two briskets since installing the new probe and the smoker is working perfectly. The only reason I am not giving it a 5 star is because it is not genuine Traeger. ... show more

    • Fixed the problem!
Traeger smoker up and running again! The temperature kept climbing but this new probe solved the problem. The temperature now stays steady within a couple degrees of what it should be.
