I had no problems with activating this phone, mostly I think because I did it on Tracfone's website. Super-easy. This is not a phone for serious gamers, but that's ok. If all you need is the basics and you don't need blazing speed, this will suit your needs. Mine came with 3gb RAM. I added a micro-SD card for my add-ons, like wallpaper and photos. Be careful opening that SIM card drawer or the SIM card will fall to the floor. It happens so quickly you won't notice it and complain it didn't come with a SIM card. As mentioned by others, you will need either a charging block with USB-C opening to use the supplied cable, or get another cable that fits a USB opening on a charger or computer on one end & USB-C to fit the phone opening, which is what I did. No big deal and cheap enough on Amazon. Most folks have USB chargers laying around. You can increase the speed a little by adjusting the RAM-Plus setting in Device Care > Memory. It comes set at 2 GB but you can increase it to 4GB. It's a virtual memory trick. It does help, but it won't make a gaming device out of the phone, which it wasn't intended to be anyway. The battery lasts fine for average users. Another feature of all Samsung Galaxy phones is the ability to limit charging to 85% of full charge. That keeps the battery from overheating and lengthens it's life. I say buy it! ... show more

I bought this to replace my 8 year old samsung tracfone which i liked alot until it died. My review: Size: this phone is at least 30% larger than my old phone. Fortunately I do not carry it around often so it probably won't be a major issue. However, if you are looking for a portable phone that will fit in a regular pocket, be aware. Set up: tracfone support was useless. They wanted to send me a code to complete the set up, but my old phone was broken so they said they could not, nor did they offer any other options. Fortunately, my adult son switched the sim card from my old phone into the new one and i was able to receive the code on my new phone and complete the process. Without him I would still not have a functional phone. Charging cable: phone did not come with a functional charging cable and to use the one that was sent would have required another purchase. I ended up using the cable from my Fire tablet, which sufficed. Performance: as always there is a learning curve with new technology but so far i am feeling my way along with this phone. Don't expect to receive a user manual because one does not come with this phone. Downloaded one from the internet but it is poorly written and not user friendly. You Tube videos are available for some issues, however. So far the phone seems to be working ok. Lost data: i am still trying to figure out if I can retrieve my contacts, photos, etc from my old phone to transfer to new phone. I probably won't even bother to do this thru tracfone because I'm sure it would only frustrate me and make me want to kill myself. I will explore other avenues. My older A02s started to have problems so this A03s looked like a good replacement. Very similar in size. The phone case from the A02s did not fit well but the screen protectors I still have do. My old A02s had the "Samsung Smart Switch" app for helping clone the old Samsung to the new one, but on the A03s I had to search the Play store for the app. You can use the enclosed cable to hook up the 2 phones or do it wirelessly, which is what I did. That process took a couple hours. Maybe the cable would be faster. When done all the old text messages, phone contacts and apps were on the new phone. I did go through the old phone first and deleted any Apps, Contacts, Texts, or or other stuff I did not want transferred. The most important Apps from the old phone I use the most are all working as expected. I have not tried all of them yet. One App for a security Cam even works better on the new phone. So I am happy. I will have to buy a new case as I drop the phone regularly, which may be why the old phone started acting up in the first place, but without a case my old phone would have been trashed along time ago. ... show more

Back in 2019, I purchased a ZTE Blade T2 Lite that was underneath Tracfone's listing at a local store, and sadly with it being a super budget phone, it gradually started to become extremely slow and unusable (plus with the whole situation with Tracfone cutting ties to ZTE due to their affiliation), I knew it was going to eventually need a replacement. Fast forward to 6/16/23 and that exactly happened. This Samsung Galaxy A03S is really fast with its speed and has a battery that far surpassed the other phone by a long shot, all I had to do was buy a protective case and all was set. Transferring accounts to the new one was also very fast, so I do have to give it to Tracfone for making that part easier than it should be. Definitely recommend this phone for those who are looking for a decent one, not to mention a decent price all things considered! ... show more

    • Great Camera But EXTREMELY SLOW

I've never had a phone so slow in all my life. It literally takes over3 MINUTES to get the phone to get up to speed; otherwise your bombarded with "Wait/Close App" prompts. THE CAMERA APP IS EXTREMELY SLOW TOO SO if you're looking to get that one-in-a-million photo, this camera will take about 60 seconds before you can use it. Other apps? SLOW SLOW SLOW.
