This was overpriced for what it is, in my opinion. As anyone knows who did this as a child, you can make a string for this with yarn, and lots of yarn is very pretty, sparkly, boldly colored, etc. We ordered one for each child, and one was fraying at the end they connected within minutes. It's been replaced with a nice yarn, and when the yarn breaks, soils or is lost, you just make another. Viola! The instructions are a complete joke, so don't get this package because they mention instructions. We parents did better by teaching them from memory, then going onto YouTube and watching videos. I believe this may be one of only a handful of lower ratings I've ever given for items purchased on Amazon. And we've purchased hundreds of things. ... show more

My kids, ages 9 and 10, are crazy about Cat's Cradle. This string is great for Cat's Cradle. It is smooth, continuous (no knots--very important), and a good length for this age of child. We have the book String Games , which has great directions for Cat's Cradle. We have an older version, which came as a kit with strings. This string goes really well with the book, String Games. My kids have entertained themselves for days on end with this string. This string, plus String Games book, would make a great gift for kids age 7-10. ... show more

We bought this for a gift bag for a birthday present along with lots of other fun little items. I have great memories of playing the string games with my family when I was a kid with just a piece of string or yarn. I used to play Cat's Cradle as a child, and wanted to teach the children I babysit. The string for the original game was stretchy, this one is not. It's colorful, but you might as well be using a shoelace. Look for one that has stretchy string, or go to a craft store and get your own. You can find directions online. ... show more
