This blotter is exactly what I needed. Wish I would have bought this years ago for my desk. The blotter I had before this was a flexible plastic-like surface with foam on the back to protect the desk. Well over the years the foam stuck to the desk and it was hard to remove and parts of the desktop are ruined. This is designed so much better. It appears to be 2 pieces of material that are glued/fused together. The title says leather but one of the descriptions says PU leather. Honestly I can't tell. It doesn't have a leather smell. However, it is priced as if it was leather. I use this to protect the top of my desk where the laptop, keyboard and mouse are. It works fabulous as a mouse pad. The material is soft, flexible, and very smooth (no bumps). It has a matte finish and doesn't have any shine/sheen to it. I experienced no bad smells or odors of any kind. I was worried about the edges not wanting to lay flat out of the box and that never happened. It is flat as a pancake from day one. Some people complained about needing to watch how much pressure you use when writing I don't see that as an issue. I took a single sheet of paper and wrote pretty hard with a pen and pencil. The paper didn't rip and there was no indentation left in the blotter. It was very smooth to write, as I expected it would be. If you spilled liquid on the blotter it would not soak through but it could roll off the edges and touch the desk. I have set a warm plate on it and no marks or indentations appeared and the desk was fine. I wish it came in bigger sizes. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase and would highly recommend.

Extremely easy to clean. I loved the packaging. It comes with a strap so you can roll up the mat and store it away. Both colors are so cute, and the mat is a great size. In my pictures you can see my keyboard, mouse, and 20” monitor sitting on the mat and how much room there is around it. When it arrived, the mat was rolled up so it was bent in some places and had some hard lines. To get the out easily I placed a damp rag on top of the mat and a hot iron on top to steam out the creases. Worked amazingly. The durability on the mat is also fantastic. It doesn’t have one flaw and it’s also a nice thickness. I probably won’t need to buy another one for a very long time as long as I clean this one when I make a mess. I’d still probably buy more in other colors though because it’s so nice.

Update: amending my original review below. I ended up buying a second mat (got a new desk and wanted a different color) and had none of the original issues with it. It unrolled nicely right out of the box, no chemical smell. Also, wanted to note that both have held up really well. I passed my original one on to my husband. We're both at our computers 8-9 hours a day with full contact with these mats. There's no sign of wear or breakdown of the faux leather. Actually quite happy with these in the end. _____ The material itself is perfectly fine. This is a thinner sheet (so, no padding) of faux leather and it seamlessly blends into my existing desk surface. It's excellent as a mousepad and I like the flexibility of having the larger, integrated surface for mousing. It doesn't slide around for me but my desk does have a matte surface which helps with "grippiness." Cons: it has a chemical smell that still lingers several days in. It's not awful but it's noticeable and not pleasant. My biggest gripe, as other reviewers have noted, is that the mat is rolled fairly tightly in the packaging and the edges will not lay flat...the last inch or so on both of the sides flips up. I tried blocking them down with heavier objects for a few days, and even rolled it against the curl and heated with a hairdryer set on low to try and mold it flat. No luck. I can live with it because it's wide enough that I don't come in contact with the outer edges but it would definitely catch if I needed to use the full width of the mat. Plus, the curled edges look kinda crappy. Even just rolling it in the package with the "good" side facing out, so it curls down rather than up, would be an improvement. I like it enough to keep it but the curling makes me not want to rate it above 3-stars.

My mat is light purple on one side, and light blue on the other side. I can turn the mat over to whatever side I am in the mood for. I like the color of both sides. 2. I like the quality because it's very good, strong, and easy to wash. What bothers me? Only one thing, which is no big deal and should not affect most people. Please let me explain. I live in an apartment where the kitchen is only meant for cooking. There is no room for a table. As a result, but also by choice since I spend a lot of time in front of my computer, I eat at my desk. I keep a canister of Clorox Disinfecting Wipes on my desk, and after I eat I use the Clorox Wipes to remove any crumbs or soil from the Desk Mat. However, some of the crumbs get left behind because of the texture of the Desk Mat, so I usually have to wipe the desk more than once in order to remove any remaining crumbs that were left behind. It's not a problem, just a little annoyance, but at least there's a solution. I also plan on purchasing a small hand-held vacuum cleaner as soon as I find one I like. I hope this helps someone out there! Thank you.
