I have purchased numerous small portable umbrellas over my life time. Most didn't last more than a year, or inverted during the first heavy wind whichever occurred first. They describe this as a "golf size" umbrella which just means that the canvass surface is larger than your typical small portable. it is longer than the typical portable (about 14" total from top to bottom of handle) and it weighs more, but it is very well made, handles the wind and provides the kind of rain protection that I was looking for. It won't fit into a purse or small briefcase, but if that is not an issue, this is an excellent umbrella that is worth a look. I expect this umbrella will last a long time and I plan to take it when traveling. ... show more
