Description

TotalBoat Aluminum Boat Paint gives aluminum and galvanized metal boats a corrosion-resistant, non-reflective low-sheen finish. TotalBoat is specifically formulated for aluminum, making it ideal for your jon boat, duck boat, flat bottom boats, bass boats, canoe, dinghy, pontoon boat, trailers, houseboats, and other aluminum boats or boat parts, such as railings and spars. It also comes in camo colors that you can apply one layer at a time for a custom camouflage pattern to improve concealment in natural settings. Or mix colors for a more realistic blend for your particular hunting or fishing area to conceal your duck or hunting blind, tree stands and ladders. Use on etch- washed metal as a topcoat or as a primer and apply the topcoat of your choice. Using an etch wash cleaner on aluminum and other difficult-to paint metals removes corrosion and improves paint adhesion. This easy-to-use water-based polyurethane can be applied directly to prepared substrates with a brush, roller or spray gun. You'll also finish faster because Aluminum Boat paint dries extremely fast; overcoat in just 1 hour at 72 degrees F without sanding between coats. Before the final coat, wait 12 hours, sand lightly and remove residue. Let the final coat dry for 48 hours, and you're ready to put the boat in the water. TotalBoat Aluminum Boat Paint can be used above or below the waterline on boats used in fresh or saltwater. Chromate-free finish has a low VOC content of 75 g/L, very little odor, and cleans up easily with soap and water. Note: TotalBoat Aluminum Boat Paint does not prevent barnacles and weeds from clinging to your boat bottom. For protection use TotalBoat AlumiPaint AF bottom paint for aluminum boats. Compare to flat finish paints like Sea Hawk Aluma Hawk, Majic Paints Camouflage Paint, Parker Coatings Duck Boat Paint and Duralux Aluminum Boat Marine Paint. All TotalBoat products are developed for boaters by boaters, to provide great value and great results. 100% made in the USA.

  • Expensive, But You Get What You Pay For...
Size: 128 Fl Oz (Pack of 1) Color: Olive Drab
Painted my Lowe twelve-foot Jon boat with this stuff. Preparation is key - the painting part is rather simple. To be clear, I spent 20 hours cleaning, sanding, and prepping the boat - then one hour painting time on each the top and the bottom. Three months later, the paint is holding and looking good. There are plenty of online videos to help understand the process - if you need the tips. I used both a brush and a small roller and got excellent results. One gallon gave me two coats on both the top and the bottom with more than half the gallon left over for another boat. A quart would probably have covered the top and bottom one time. ... show more

  • Worst paint ever for aluminum
Size: 128 Fl Oz (Pack of 1) Color: Khaki
The media could not be loaded. Worst boat paint that i have ever bought. I followed wvery step and direction to a T. Sanded the boat down to bare aluminum, washed the boat, rubbed the whole boat down with acetone multiple times, dod 3 coats all around and this pain will not adhere to the aluminum at all. For the process point of $120 per can this product is a complete waste of money i got 3 cans and spent $360 on just paint alone for my boat and all of it had to be scraped off my boat. When i received the paint all 3 cans were heavily dented but no paint had leaked out, that wasnt the major problem the big problem was when i opened the paint it was separated and a thick film of material on the bottom Almost clay like. All in all DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! All i want is my money back since this product did not work. ... show more

  • a quart will give you two coats inside and out on a 12 foot v bottom boat using a small roller
Size: 128 Fl Oz (Pack of 1) Color: Khaki
looks great and easy to apply, I ordered the gallon and found out one quart would have done good and I applied two coats when one would have sufficed

  • Does not uniformally adhere.
Size: 128 Fl Oz (Pack of 1) Color: White
I used this paint on an aluminum boat. I sanded the old paint down to bare metal. I cleaned the metal and applied with a sprayer. The paint sticks well in most places but flakes off in other. It even pulls free from wood and fiberglass in spots. Now I have lots of repairs to do. Hopefully it sticks the second time! After following the instructions and getting lots of areas needing rework, I cannot say that the price for this is justified. I probably would have been better off getting a cheap can of oil based paint from Walmart! ... show more

  • Do your prep work properly and you will have outstanding results.
Size: 128 Fl Oz (Pack of 1) Color: Light Gray
I recondition jon boats as my side hobby/income and I spent over 20 years in the automotive paint and body industry as experience. The quality of this paint can not be beat for the price point. I have painted several aluminum boats with this product and other brands with a little lower price point and this is well worth the extra $$$. Any issues with this paint will be operator error. Some people are just not going to put forth the effort to properly prep the surface for paint. If you want to pressure wash it and paint it you will get results based on your effort. When you can see a shine on a surface do not expect the paint to adhere properly. Take your time, use a tsp solution sprayed on the boat and pressure wash it. Now sand it well and clean it properly before painting and you will have good adhesion. The rivets are a key point on aluminum boats, your sander will not get down in the crevice around it. Put another 30 minutes of time in and take a scuff pad wet with mineral spirits and sand around each rivet. This is the best way I have found to get in there and remove any oil or contaminates. Personally I pressure wash the whole boat again before painting. PREP PREP PREP that is the key no matter what paint you are using. Splotchy paint, poor coverage and runs are all operator error. Do your homework on your colors because some colors are much more transparent than others and buy enough paint to do it right. ... show more
