For the price, this is an amazing value for beginners. Sure, the guitar isn't incredible and does have sharp fret edges, but - it's lightweight, it stays in tune pretty well, and the electronics, while they won't win awards, are plenty good for a beginner. The lower tone knob comes off pretty easily but can easily be put back on, and a bit of paper wrapped within can solve that problem. Beginner electric guitars generally exhibit these issues - you can look up DIY solutions or just take it to a luthier for a proper setup and that'll resolve all this stuff. This guitar has your standard Strat switching and the two tone knobs are for the neck and middle pickups; the bridge pickup is fully open and bright - no tone knob it's wired to. Of note, the color I ordered was Sky Blue, but I received the black color. In the listing, selecting "sky blue" shows a picture of a black guitar, so I knew I might get a black one and was fine with that. It's a matte finish, by the way - see my photo (I haven't removed the plastic from the pickguard, btw). The accessories included are better than expected. The clip on tuner, cable, tiny cute little USB-C rechargeable combo amp, capo, picks, etc., all function well. Again, nothing state of the art here - very, very basic; but the thing I've seen with beginner kits is that so often the guitar can't stay in tune or has some severely frustrating things that make someone want to give up on it, and the accessories are completely worthless. Speaking as someone who has played guitar for a long time, a beginner would do fine with a starter kit like this, and for the $110 it's priced at, it makes it easy for someone to get into guitar without having to buy anything else at the outset (well, you'll want a music stand) - and makes it very easy for me to recommend this. Just beware: you may get the wrong color - maybe choose the picture you want and ignore the text title of the color - several selections are incongruous with their pictures. The tremolo bridge does whack the strings out of tune if you're too aggressive with its use, but for mild use, it does bring the strings back to tune. This is not unusual for Strat-style guitars priced much higher than this, by the way. It can be helped with some graphite at the saddles and other points of friction (pencil lead works well). This guitar is a very good value considering what is included. The neck and body are well made and look very nice. The neck is a good length. The electronics are decent as well. Nothing to complain about at this price point. The only real issue is very sharp fret edges. They need to be filed down to be comfortable. The intonation is very bad, and it needs a decent setup. After that it plays just fine. The included accessories are just fine for the price. The amp is not very impressive but fine for making some noise. Overall, good deal and value to get some axe time in for the kid!
