While they are very soft, velvety, and pretty in color, they are not light blocking. They let a lot of the morning Sun come in, which I'm fine with, because I don't use an alarm clock, but anyone looking for blackout curtains would not be happy. They are also a couple in too long. I ordered the same size as my previous pear and these drag the floor. I will keep them though, because I like the color of them with my wall paint color. ... show more

These are exceptionally beautiful velvet curtains. I thought they looked a little odd in the listing photo, rather stiff. But in person they are gorgeous. Soft velvet with a nap and shimmer. Not shiny, thank goodness. Very luxurious, very high end. The color is richer than what I see on my screen. It's a perfect olive green to my eye - not too yellow, not too dark. Just the sort of color you can look at and enjoy every day. Easy on the eye. Weighty enough to pool and drape elegantly. I absolutely love them. They do not have any sort of added coating on the back, which is why they drape so gracefully. They are velvet, so they keep the light out for the most part.
