I needed something to replace a cheap wooden book shelf that got moldy in my basement. Metal is the way to go in a basement! I’ve put together a lot of shelves like this, my basement is full of them. This is the first time I’ve bought one that is this small and this lightweight. The metal is kind of flimsy but the construction is solid. The cross braces in the shelves really make a difference for strength. You need to go slowly, especially at first, because the braces will pop out as you set the other braces. You DEFINITELY need a rubber mallet to put this together, no way around it. Work slowly, pound lightly, and once you have the first two shelves set you can pound the braces in more. You’ll also need a flat head screwdriver to bend the tabs of the cross braces once they’re in place. The directions show this step but you might miss it. Also be sure to leave the bottom holes open to raise the bottom shelf a bit. If you’re putting this in a basement or garage you want that airflow. Bonus for the company for including some decent work gloves for putting this together! Never saw that before! They fit my big hands which is cool. And they are good for keeping your hands safe from the sharp metal. I’m very happy with this shelf, especially for the price. While it doesn’t have the airflow of a wire shelf it will be more sturdy, and is a little cheaper than a similarly sized wire shelf.

These shelving units are great. I use them in my apartment and they can hold a lot of items. The best thing for me was that the shelving units came in different colors to match my decor and they were relatively easy to put together. I did have to have a helper though who helped me put both units together. It really does take two people at least to get the first level going. Though the units required only a mallot to pound the pieces together it was a little tricky. There were some parts that took me a minute to figure out while scratching my head, but it all worked out. Someone else said the instructions were pretty much useless and I have to agree. I simply used the pictures and finally got the units put together. Once everything was finished, I was very happy with the product. As you can see from the pictures the shelving units hold of lot of boxes and tubs. I plan on using magnet hooks and long curtains just to give a finished look to my storage area. I'm very happy with the purchase and give Topeakmart 5 stars. Great price!

After getting burned by the Amazon brand shelving, I decide to try these. They aren't without their cons, but so far I'm happy. CON: The instructions are almost worthless. I ended up just going off the picture on Amazon. The metal bracket connector to connect the leg pieces together is flimsy. I don't think it'll matter structually, it was just hard to put it on the shelving unit without bending it. PROS: Everything else. The shelves seem sturdy. It was pretty easy to put together - even without the instructions. I liked the shelves so much I ordered another one.

Assembly was tool-less outside of a flat head screwdriver and a rubber mallet. I used a hammer with a towel instead. There's a part where you have to bend small metal tabs -- make sure to pre-bend these enough to get the flat head under to finish the bend. I actually enjoyed the assembly and it took me about 30 minutes. The shelf works well enough. I wouldn't put very heavy items on it and the instructions indicate not to place heavy items in the center of a shelf, so it's not a garage/basement shelf to me, but works great in my office closet for extra storage. My only complaint is there is a very strong, pungent industrial-esque odor that comes off the metal pieces that were separately boxed. I am hoping it dissipates over time but right now it's headache inducing.

This came in a much smaller package than I was expecting however, after building the unit it came out perfect! The directions were a little confusing at first but once you get the first shelf done it’s just repeating the process until complete. Love that the shelves can be whatever distance apart you choose. I didn’t use the rubber mallet to build mine and it still came out very sturdy. Lastly, the ‘wood’ shelves are a little thin, but for what I am using it for I don’t mind - just fyi:)

The items is sturdy and good looking but assembling it is such a pain in the butt. It will be difficult for one person to do. My husband and I and a trusty flat head got the job done. That's the only reason I took a star off but other then that it looks good and it's doing the job I need it to do.

I'll admit that I got a bit frustrated while assembling this shelf unit but when it was finally done, it is just fine. It is for storage so heavy things aren't being pulled off the shelves very often. Be careful during assembly to be sure all pieces are "up" or "down". The tabs only went cleanly through their slots half of the time and the other times went through crooked so they probably won't last as long or be as strong. For my purposes, it's fine... not much activity and I'll always be careful when pulling things off the shelves. It was worth the money as long as it's for light duty.

It’s light, shelves see sturdy. I was using it as a reptile rack. Finding out the height for each one was kinda tricky but works just fine. No bent or missing pieces. I don’t think its worth $40, especially since the pieces themselves are quite thin and it was not as wide as I was expecting. I don’t think the price is fair for it but it seems to be holding up just fine.
