  • Useful Garden Tool with Longer-than-Typical Handle
I like that the handle on this combination hand tiller and hoe is longer than most. This means for many cases I can just bend over vs. getting down on my knees. Construction appears to be decent, but the metal bits will likely rust easily once the painted surface begins to get scraped through normal wear and tear. Higher end tools have a more durable surface treatment. The spot welds will really need to be kept dry to extend tool life. I am already in the habit of cleaning my outdoor tools and spraying them with a coat of WD-40 before putting them away, and that will be very important here to extend the life of the tool. The ergonomics of the tool are pretty good, and it is easy to control. The handle can still be grasped firmly even when wet. I like the length of the handle, as I mentioned, because it often means I don't need to get on my knees to do something in the garden but it's also nice because it means I don't have to stick my hand somewhere I can't see (a consideration for those who content with snakes). This tool will work best in soil that has been regularly maintained and is probably not durable enough to break up rocky or hard soils that haven't been cultivated before. ... show more

  • Needs to hang together
The tool end attaches to the handle only by a friction fit between two cylinders. When digging in the garden, it is natural to dig the claw or hoe into the dirt and pull. That works fine until it works loose and comes apart. Yes, it can be put back into one piece, but having to reassemble the tool every five minutes rather spoils the experience. Two stars instead of one because it really is pretty convenient to have both claw and hoe in a single tool. I'd also be concerned about the strength and longevity of the spot welds that attach the claw fingers and hoe blade to the shaft. Updated April 11 2023 I salvaged the tool by drilling through both shafts and locking them with a piece of #12 electrical wire. Much better, and I actually rather like the tool, now that it's not going to come apart in my hand. Changed my rating to 3 stars, because this is still something the vendor should have done, not the customer. ... show more

  • Super Light But Durable Cultivator
Immediately notice that this tool is very light when you get it out of the package. Classic design with dual-heads for specific jobs. Other reviews mention shoddy welding and even coming apart, but mine hasn't shown any of those signs even with light use. You can tell the workmanship is a little lacking - mine is missing some paint on the handle and the business end doesn't exactly line up. However, the handle is comfortable and again the tool is very light so I will be using it for light weeding around my garden more later this year. Digs well after a few short tests, but looks like it's unavailable right now anyway. Bummer. ... show more

  • Good for flower beds, containers and elevated beds
This is not a large tool. Use it for flower beds, containers, and elevated beds and it should last for a while. It is not built for heavy use and will fail if you use it that way. The material is somewhat thin and the construction is not robust. The padding is not secured well and moves around, but is good enough. Overall, for light use, it is OK, just don't expect miracles or for it to last a lifetime, neither will happen. ... show more

  • Good for light gardening
This is a handy little tool that works well for light gardening. If you've got some flowers to plant or a little patch of soft soil to move around, this will work just fine. I have a raised herb garden and use this to shift soil around and break up small clumps of mostly soft dirt. I don't think it would hold up to harder packed dirt or anything heavy. It's a nice tool to have in your gardening arsenal but not something to rely on solely for loosening soil, weeding or digging. ... show more

  • Just OK
This is ok and will work for general gardening where soil is not compacted too much. The digging head is only spot welded on and I suspect it will eventually come apart. Garden tools should be robust and spot welds are not reliable over time. This will be good for flower beds and small plots that have large amounts of mulch & peat mixed with the soil. ... show more
