Nice light protection
This is the perfect head protection for the SUP that I’m doing. Light weight mildly adjustable, I needed to add some additional padding to the S/M size for an optimal fit. Would buy again.

Really interesting water sports cap with internal padded shell
Color: Black Size: Large
This is an extremely nicely designed water sports cap, ideal for surfing or other sports. When you put it on and secure the chin strap it basically looks like a standard baseball type cap a little bit larger maybe but still very normal looking. Yet in the interior it has a hard shell with padding to provide significant extra safety for your head. I like wearing a hat when I am out in the water on my surfboard, to keep the sun off my head and to stay a bit warmer, but this is ideal because it looks great and also provides an extra margin of safety. In fact I'm considering wearing this skiing instead of those larger more cumbersome helmets which are basically designed for more extreme skiers than me ... show more

Worthwhile if unusual look
Color: Black Size: Large
I ordered large which fit my average head well. The cushioning inside the hard shell is complete and quite compact but a thinner layer than I had expected. So not at all like your typical bike helmet with thick padding. The permanently attached ear flaps are practical to keep the sun off your ears and to allow the hat to be secured to your head through the under chin strapping. The ear pieces are also slightly meshed to allow air flow. The peak is stiff and similar to a baseball cap and the whole fitting reminds me of a riding hat rather than anything super cool you might want to be seen in on a surfboard. But sometimes cool has to take a backseat to safety and I’m past looking cool anyways, although I might be exaggerating the loss of cool look a bit here. Personal opinion. There is also a black neck guard included with the hat. It attaches curiously by having 4 small buttons along its length. These are secured by insertion into 4 small elastic loops on the underside of the hat rim at the rear. This is a very odd choice of design in my opinion. It took me a while to attach it just sitting down on my couch after unboxing so I can’t imagine it taking less time at the waters edge with the wind blowing and wet hands. And then I found that I inserted the buttons the wrong way for a clean edge so had to revisit. I don’t know why they didn’t use little male to female tiny circular plastic clips which I’m sure have a name I’m not familiar with. There’s a thin strap of about 6-8 inches that is attached to the middle back of the hat rim so I’m assuming this is either to clip onto the neck protector to avoid loss if it comes detached or perhaps more likely, to tether the hat itself to YOU (your wetsuit or shirt) in case it flies off. Hard to see how it could fly off your head though if you’ve got the chin strap closed , so I’m not entirely sure what it’s for. All in all a good solution for head protection while in the water especially if you assess a fall could have serious consequences given your environment and how fluid you, your craft and your chosen water are. I hope you found this information helpful 👇 ... show more

Cap
Color: Blue Size: Large
It fits, but the 'chin strap' comes awfully far aft on my neck and isn't as comfortable as I would like. I really wanted to like this and the build seems fine, but the fit is just a little off to be comfortable for a full day of activity.

Goofy looking, but functional
Color: Blue Size: Large
Yeah, it's a bit goofy looking, especially with the neck drape installed. I got it for kayaking - we stay in very calm water on the Potomac, but there are rocks - we've had someone fall exiting their kayak, and get a concussion. I put the kids in helmets, usually, for that reason. I'm trying this out as an alternative. I am loathe to give up my bucket hat with the wide brim, and the sun protection that comes with it, so this might be an alternative to a full helmet - I might even use the neck drape. ... show more

Protection while on the water but looks like a baseball hat!
Color: Black Size: Large
We got this for when we are wake surfing. Our whole family is learning and when I fall, I’m always worried about the board popping up and hitting me. This is reassuring to have a bit of protection! Also, some of our neighbors are starting to do the individual hydrofoils. I don’t want my kiddos out there on their own without some type of head protection. They didn’t want to wear a normal helmet so this was a good solution that looks just like a baseball cap. ... show more

Nice protective hat for Tahoe SUP
Color: Black Size: Large
Multi functional hat to be honest, from biking, paddleboarding, to yard working. The foam is soft and squishy when touched, but feel quite firm and supportive on my noggin. Well thought of hat from scratch that makes this a great buy! The visor is quite soft, and crooked, so I had to fix that. It includes a shirt clip, so you wouldn't lose it under heavy wind, or gone chin strapless. If you're shirtless, then that soft on skin chin strap is the way to go. The strap looks goofy, or look like a competitive water polo athlete, and can create tan line under continuous Sun exposure. On the other hand, it's great to block wind noise, and press down the hat for better fit. It's easy to adjust the hat to fit my head, somewhat snugly, but I regret taken out the excess strap. You can hide out the excess inside the hat, but very difficult to insert them back in. I can see why there are few strayed strands. I had to use a pen to put it back. The neck protector used buttons to attach to the the hat, can be cumbersome, but I don't mind. I think I can utilize this for spring cleaning, to protect my neck from scorching heat, and my head from loose twigs. ... show more

Tried it while foil surfing
Can't say I like it, but that's not totally the product's fault. It seems well built, but there are a few things that I didn't like, function wise, when I used it. First thing is the rubber band that's supposed to keep the excess chin strap contained. That rubber band will soon deteriorate and fall off. When duck diving, it either came off or just felt like it was impeding my natural flow underwater. When surfing, the mesh that covers your ear, muffles the ambient sound too much. Overall I didn't care for the experience. Now with that all said, most of that was preference and not the product not doing what it's supposed to do. If I used it when SUP foiling or SUP surfing it might function better. It would still have the ear/sound issue though. Additionally, I never received the neck flap that is described on the product page. Value: At $40 at the time of review, this is an ok deal. You might have a use case where it would work better than it did for me. ... show more
