  • GREAT VALUE FOR AN ALL IN ONE SYSTEM!!
Style: TC-2030
TONOR REVIEW REASONS FOR PURCHASE I decided to buy this Mic and boom arm setup for various types of reasons from podcasting, shooting product videos, and using it as a small but efficient boom arm for potential Go Pro or my main microphone for product shoots. This can also double as a mic stand depending on your setup either just out of frame depending on your camera setup for smaller productions. I started using audio equipment in college for my RADIO TV FLIM portion of my degree and used various types of equipment in a professional environment 20 years ago. It’s a literal plug and play system into any Apple product with a USB (you will need a USBC adapter if you don’t have one) where your MacBook should recognize the mic right away, if not it’s a simple change in settings in sound. If you’re a Gamer, it’s a great economical setup too if you have basic audio knowledge. ADAPTER I did purchase a ½ to ⅝ adapter for my Zoom H-6 (connected to an Aperture Adapter cold shoe to ¼) with a ZOOM SSH Stereo Shotgun mic which I currently use or a RODE VIDEOMIC NTG. Once you get use to the podcast setup and sound quality, it’s great for videos. SOUND IS EVERYTHING on youtube. When shooting product videos, I use this as my pseudo podcast setup for audio and it looks great in videos for my WIDE shot using a 10-18mm lens with my EOS R 24-105mm shooting straight down from a Manfrotto Tripod. VELCRO STRAPS 4 velcro straps are great for connecting wires since I run one from my headphones and line out from the ZOOM H-6 into my EOS R, so no post production sound matching its necessary. I’ve used a LOT of velcro straps and this is a great edition with how they connect for quick adjustments wires since I run 2 of them. POP FILTER The POP filter is AMAZING for the ZOOM H-6 because my shotgun mic is about 1-4 inches from my mouth and blocks 99% of all my “P’s” with monitoring my audio. Why send a lot of money on pop filter when you can utilize one from a kit. A nice value add. BOOM ARM The boom arm itself is very simple to setup as a pivot point on a desk or table. Setup for the boom arm and mic just make sure you give yourself time with what your goals are either for podcasting, gaming, or product videos for the best setup as I have used several for various applications. Depending on your mic (if you use the Tonor mic, Rode, or Zoom) you will have to play with the adjustments of each pivot point in order to truly customize your level of tension. Be patient with this process since you will have to take into account of how your mic setup will be in various types of formats. To protect the desk with ANY boom arm setup with a clamp I always find a small piece of plastic or something to use as the top piece so you don’t mark up your desk depending on the weight of your alternative mic setup with the boom arm. MIC Visually, the mic looks great too with that old school look with black and silver, this will just make your visuals POP even more for your application. If you decide to use this as a live setup, visually the Tonor mic looks great and very professional. The microphone is great quality for anyone starting out with entry level audio knowledge for Garage Band or Logic Pro from an Apple perspective looking to invest in equipment but not break the bank with spending $100’s of dollars for everything you need for a basic setup. VALUE Bang for my buck, I could not be happier with how much USE I’m getting from the Boom Arm as I will never go back to a mic on a table vs Boom Arm. Any questions, please let me know. Happy shooting! ... show more

  • Great microphone at a great price
Style: TC-2030
This is a very good microphone at a very reasonable price. The included arm seems well built and durable. It easily holds the microphone where you want it. Be aware that the clamp has a built in hook for hanging a pair of headphones. The opening between the hook and the surface of the clamp that sits on the top of your desk is about 2.5" so make sure that your desk doesn't have any supports or anything else that the hook will interfere with. As with any microphone the sound quality will largely depend on the EQ that you apply to it. Don't expect to sound like a radio DJ if you just plug it in and don't do any tuning. With correct placement and tuning, this mic sounds very good. The USB cable that arrived with mine didn't work (luckily I had another cable that I could use to confirm that it was just the included cable). I contacted Tonor directly to request a replacement cable they replied quickly and it was a painless process to get a new cable. I won't hold the defective cable against them since they replied quickly and made it easy to get a replacement cable. If I had to pick a complaint about the product other than my cable being defective I would say that a longer cable would definitely be nice to have. The included one is 6ft which is enough to route along the arm and reach under the desk a bit, but it probably won't reach all the way to your computer. I would recommend ordering either a 10ft cable or a USB extension cable (be sure to get an active cable or extension if the total length of the USB cables used will be longer than 15ft as required by the USB 2.0 spec). My solution was to mount a USB hub to the bottom side of my desk in a location that the cable would reach. ... show more

Had to glue the plastic mic holder together. Would like to have a replacement part, but I can’t seem to get one 😞

  • Impressed with the sound quality and price/performance ratio.
Style: TC-2030
I was looking for something to improve sound quality during zoom meetings/work calls etc. I had been using a crappy head set or my webcams built in mic, both of which had awful sound quality. I looked around for nicer headsets but wanted to be able to use my nice headphones I already have. I eventually decided to try a USB mic even though its a bit overkill for phone calls. There is a ton of USB mics on amazon, some with buttons and dials on the mic, some cardioid, some not etc. Was hard to choose but this one went on sale and I liked the back to basics design, no buttons or dials and heavy duty stand. This one also had the cardiod pattern which I figured would help with background noise rejection. So I hooked this thing up and made a few recordings in audacity and WOW this thing sounds incredible! With zero EQ out of the box sounds like a rich radio voice sound. I have no idea why anyone would want to spend more on a USB mic, this thing is perfect! I have now installed a program called noisegator and now I can type on my loud mechanical keyboard and it won't activate the mic until I speak. Very happy with this setup, highly recommend if you want something for zoom/teams meetings that sounds good and does not require to use a headset. My only gripe is the retaining ring that holds the mic screw in was making audible rattling sounds. After messing around with it I finally figured out how to pop the screw off and remove the retaining ring. No more rattle! ... show more
