Initially, looking at the pieces, I was convinced I was missing huge numbers of them, but no. There were plenty (a few more than needed, even) of them. The pieces consisted of the walls/floors and the joints to put it all together. There were a couple of exterior corners which required a small amount of thinking to insert the panels correctly into the joint pieces, but otherwise, assembly was a breeze. The cute little hammer included in the kit actually served a purpose, although I ended up using my own small metal hammer to tighten the joint pieces with the panels. I assembled it and filled it with a variety of objects, some heavier than I would have thought the panels could handle. Assembly took about an hour (12 cube), and I was wrong about the fragility of the opaque, lightweight panels. Although they appeared ridiculously insubstantial, they were actually quite strong, and were easily able to hold framing materials (including wooden frames), compact boxes of tools, and other many, many other miscellaneous items. The unit is sturdy with no tendency to tip over, and those little joint pieces were ingeniously designed. Bottom line: excellent value for the low price, plus it looks good! ... show more

Overall a wonderful product! Here are the pros/cons: Pros: 1.) Easy to assemble. The instructions were that not great however. BUT if you just watch the short 1 min vid on the amazon page, you'll understand. Once you know which way the different knobs need to be facing, its intuitive after that. 2.) Can contort to pretty much any shape you want. I decided to go with the 2x6. After building this, I still had extras - 1 wall, 4 knobs and 6 legs. 3.) It's lightweight so super easy to move for anyone(felt like maybe 5 lbs at most?). 4.) It looks great! Really makes my room look fancier. I like the 2x6 look cuz the top shelves are at my eye level. It's saves me a ton of space too. Cons: 1.) Not really anything bad. Only minor one is that it isn't sturdiest (not like it's advertising to be). So if you plan on putting light figurines or things that can easily tip over, a little bump on the shelf or stomping your feet too hard could knock them over. I suggest not putting light or glass figurines on there that can easily tip over and definitely not on the edge of the shelf. Also recommend having your heaviest things on the bottom to help give the structure more support. Final Thoughts: If you want a nice display shelf or something for your clothes, this is def a great product! I actually just bought a send 12 pack and set it up already for my clothes! Edit: So the 3 new sets came in and they were extremely easy to put together, and even felt more sturdy. I'm starting to think my first set was warped or wrong somehow. If I had gotten these first I would've given it 5 stars for sure, but there may be a quality control issue. Still a good product regardless! Original: I am baffled by the number of reviews that claim this is easy to put together. Maybe if you don't snap it in all the way, it is. But if you do not, it will not be nearly as sturdy. (This might explain why there are some people praising it's sturdiness and others complaining it is too fragile.) My BF has boxes and boxes of games and books that he has collected over his life, and rather than having them boxed away where no one can ever see or enjoy them (Including himself!) I wanted to get a large number of shelves up to display as much of it as possible. However, sturdy shelves are either expensive or require you to drill into the wall, and we are on a shoestring budget in a rented apartment. These cubes that let you expand to whatever size you want while remaining cheap are perfect. I ordered a single black set of 12 as a test. It's not as sturdy as a solid wood shelf, but it was sturdy enough for my two 6-month old kittens to climb on without it breaking. I am admittedly on the weaker side, but I had to lean my bodyweight onto it to get the pieces to snap together fully and the hammer was pretty useless. I actually gave up on getting the top row to be perfect since it will hold the least weight... The panels are a thin plastic sheet with a wire frame. I bent one piece while putting it together but I was able to bend it back easily enough. I would hesitate to load up the entire bookshelf with, say, textbooks, but I think it would be fine to load up maybe the bottom two rows with textbooks. I've ordered three more sets and plan to do just that. I will update this review if it ever collapses- a lack of update means it is still holding strong! ... show more

We bought our first 12-cube shelfs for displaying/storing my son's Godzilla and other toy collections in his room. After seeing how great the product is, we bought a second set with some of the cloth storage cube bins for his Legos! Looks amazing against his walls and saved space as the old containers for these items took up so much more space. Assembly was a breeze and being able to define our own overall shape of the shelf system was the deciding factor! The plastic clips that hold the panels in place have a tight fit, which adds to the stability of the shelf system. You must make sure you are properly seating the clips and panels together for everything to work as intended, still I wouldn't expect this to hold any substantial weight just lightweight items. TomCare provides a small wooden hammer tool with the kit. Our hammer broke on the first set within about 6 cubes being assembled with very light tapping, just enough to slightly move the clips with each tap. Luckily, I had a small rubber mallet and was able to finish securing the remaining clips. On our second set we ordered, the wooden hammer held up better as compared to the first set we built. Overall, we will most likely buy a couple more sets for my daughters room and after seeing some of the reviews from other reviewers and their use cases, might get a couple for me for storing cables and other parts and accessories. ... show more
