as someone that wanted to start melting my own metals to make jewelry I was looking for something basic and easy to use, and this is it. it's easy to set up, the manual sets up the temperature you need to melt each type of metal and the temperature is clearly marked on the front and is easy to change as needed, and on my first try it was a wonderful success. be sure to use it outside, it isn't meant for indoor use it gets HOT. shipping was fast and it was very well packaged. POS….. buyers beware, never even poured one small 5oz bar of copper, 2 hours in, the reading temperature showed 095 C instead of 1095 C…. Unit stopped working 2 hours later and never melted my clean copper, POS, never got to melt the metal, buy a reputable USA Product, yes it will be more expensive, but worth it, waisted my money on this ... show more

I really like this smelter, although I'm a beginner, this is affordable and easy to use. I read in the comments someone had an issue with the lid cracking, so it gave me an idea for some preventive maintenance. I press fit in a 1/2 thick pancake coil of fireproofing fabric leaving a vent hole accessible into the lid. After several uses solar I have no issues. I do have a concern about the long-term use of the Crucibles. Since they slowly degrade in the intense heat I'm worried about one cracking in use and having liquid metal splash everywhere inside the machine. I would like to see stronger crusables for this in the future. ... show more

This is a realy great furnace. It has temperature control. 2 crucibles and a mold with several dies. The gloves ensure you remain safe which i liked. And the tongs and naturally always in the closed position to avoid dropping it. It's easy to melt metals in this. And i like it. The quality could've been better but it definitely does its job and looks really nice. My favorite part is how it runs off of electricity and not gas. It costs a lot less than gas and i don't need to carry a massive tank around. ... show more

I got this months ago and finally used it. I wanted to make my own metal and touch mark stamps using recycled chisels, files, etc. I tried the typical way of torching and submersion in plaster but this did not retain the heat long enough so partial re-hardening occurred. I started thinking that there was no reason that this furnace could not be used as a kiln for annealing steel. So I tried it. To date, I've done it twice and it works GREAT! From start to final temp 820 C/1500F (40-45 min). I kept it at that temp for 45 min then turned it off. I takes about 5-6 hrs to cool to hand holding temp. The 1KG crucible is about 1-3/8" x < 4" and the 3KG crucible is about 1-7/8" x < 6", so you are limited in the amount of steel rods that may be placed in the crucible. This limitation was not critical for my use. This furnace is easy to use and I am very happy with it. I look forward to using it for melting/recycling my own metals. I have had this unit for a couple weeks now and already the rim of the furnace will not keep the small crucible where it needs to be. As we speak I turned this one to pre heat it and my small crucible is at the bottom. No way to retrieve it cept to turn this off. Let it cool all the way down then take the safety cage off so gain access to the inner part of the forge to get my crucible. Suggest waiting till they either fix this issue or only provide crucibles that are actually ment for this unit. ... show more
