Used in a Blackstone pizza oven. I use much less propane gas to heat up the inside and it helps to maintain the heat much longer. While the flame side and stone approaches 1000 degrees F, the outside top and sides stay around 190 to 215 degrees F.

Started to use fiberglass wrap, but that would not only be difficult to install due to very little room, but would stiffen the flex pipe used for the extension making it difficult to move the genset if necessary in the future. I used this for wrapping 6 inch single wall wood stove pipe and it's a perfect fit without having to cut it. It keeps the flue temp very high until it joins the Class A insulated flue pipe thereby eliminating the tarry creosote buildup in the whole flue system without have to run the stove super hot to to do it. Couldn't be happier. I just used plastic zip straps to hold it in place for now and noticed that the outside of the insulation only got up to 108 F at 500 F stove temp. I may get the metal zip ties just to be extra safe since they are cheap. I believe this is really going to cut down on the creosote remover I've been using down to practically nothing, so this insulation should pay for itself over time. ... show more

Used this kit to wrap a 6" diameter stovepipe as part of a woodstove installation connecting to a lined chimney. Never worked with ceramic insulation before, but it was pretty easy. It cuts very easily with the included knife, and 24" wide is about the right size to wrap a 6" diameter pipe. I used stainless steel straps to clinch the material around the pipe; worked great. Ceramic wool can be some nasty stuff to handle, but the included gloves did a very nice job. A facemark helps with any dust. ... show more

My chimenea is located on my porch -- and the heat can warp or burn the ballisters on the porch railing. I purchesed this to stop the heat from eascaping out of the back of the chimenea and harming the railing. Success! I use my chimenea almost everyday -- and wood fires with oak and maple logs get exceptionally hot. This stuff is easy to work with and it stopped the heat.
