  • It’s a good product for the quality/price it offers.
The MR VOLCANO rigidizer fulfills its purpose, which is to keep the ceramic wool firm and prevent it from coming loose, whether due to tearing or wear. The full container is enough for two applications. If you bought it for use in your forge, simply use half the container. Add water based on the proportions specified in the manual, and spray it with an atomizer. The ceramic blanket will be ready once it is soaked or superficially wet. Do not use the entire product on the ceramic blanket; just use half and spray it lightly. Then, let the ceramic blanket air dry for a full day (24 hours). If it still feels a bit damp, use a heat gun or, in my case, a hairdryer. It’s worth mentioning that if you didn’t understand how to spray it lightly, the product has a red tint. Simply spray the product mixed with water onto the ceramic blanket using the atomizer. Once you see the ceramic blanket completely red on both sides, you’ll know the product has been fully incorporated. Good luck with your project ... show more

  • Okay rigidizer, but the leaky bottle was not good.
I sprayed a half water and half rigidizer mix on my kaowool forge material as directed and it seems to have done a decent job of stiffening and containing fibers. My complaint is that it was contained in a poorly closed and leaking plastic bottle which was shipped in a box with a pair of pants. It was pure luck that the plastic wrapper of the pants prevented the goo from ruining the pants. There was some loss of the rigidizer fluid, but not quite enough to warrant sending it all back. A plastic or aluminum protective seal under the screw cap is strongly advised. ... show more

  • Did what I needed it to do
I recently made a forge and needed to rigidize the ceramic blanket. Mixed it 1:1 with water in a spray bottle and used the whole bottle. It took 2-3 days to cure and it kept the ceramic dust from filling my workspace.

  • Stiff AF
Ya know when you crank one into an old sock and the sock gets kicked under the bed and then you find it 2 months later? Basically that's what this stuff does, but after mere minutes.

  • Follow the directions, and you'll be fine.
Not sure why some reviewers complained about brushing this stuff on. My instructions clearly said to spray it on. Mixed 1:1 with water, loaded up a quart spray bottle, and misted the interior of my new forge's insulation. Two sprayers full, and my forge's insulation was evenly saturated. Fired it up for a cure, and it was ready for refractory cement. Take your time, start from the center and work your way out to the edges, turning the forge over to make sure all sides are evenly coated. ... show more
