There are not a lot of great options out there for what equates to a bit of a dressed up, low-cut hiking shoe. They have a durable and pretty aggressive tread, Great for walking around and wet grass or a little mud. The side profile of the sole is not too big or cheesy looking. I find a lot of leather shoes produced for hiking or walking have cheap, cheesy looking soles that don’t integrate well with a leather shoe. This is the second pair I have purchased. The first pair lasted over five years Before they started to fall apart a little bit and the soles were worn flat. I still use them for house and yardwork. Absolutely the most comfortable hiking boot I have ever worn. Being completely honest, I do not buy these for hiking (although I occasionally do wear them hiking) but for work. I am on my feet all day and walk between 3-5 miles each day and my feet never hurt or get tired in these. They are completely waterproof as they advertise, and they last me a couple of years. I am in sales, so these boots are nice enough for presentation, but rugged enough to handle the weather and occasional messes that I encounter in my place of work. This is not a long range serious hiking shoe, there are better choices for that. I use this to wear casually with jeans, when it’s raining and anywhere else I don’t want sneakers or dress shoes. Laces are long I will switch those out, look good and comfortable.

I had a pair of these from a prior generation and wore them for years. They were great shoes. However, this version, changed the material a bit. The previous version had a different material on the sides with leather on top, heal, and tongue. These are all leather, but when they got wet, the leather on the top has collapsed a bit so that it rubs the top of my foot and toes enough to be annoying. Also, during a significant hike on a mountain trail with a lot of rocks, the sides of these under my ankle kept "banging" into my ankles and they were sore from the impacts.
