    • Great book for youth!
I truly love this book by Torrey Maldonado! We host a Bookclub every Thursday and the boys spent a good time on this book. They absolutely loved the characters, story plot and real life scenarios and discussions we were able to have about this book! The author Torrey Maldonado is one down to earth man I must say! Our book club had the honor and privilege to meet Torrey on our zoom call! He did a reading and Q&A with our Youth! Shared out some of his life experiences which made him so authentic! He truly showed up in a major way that impacted these kids lives forever! ... show more

I have taught this book to several group of sixth graders. They absolutely love it because of how relatable Bryan's story is. Could not recommend it enough!

I purchased this along with a few other titles to open him up to other genres and expose him to the different ways people live. He has enjoyed how the boys talk and asks questions about life where they live, and the life lessons in the story I hope will speak to him and give him something to think about. We were introduced to the author and this book through a reading assignment in Newswela. The article about the author intrigued my 10 year old daughter enough to inquire about reading the book. Each night we read it together, excited to get to the next chapters. There was some slang that we had the opportunity to use the Urban dictionary to learn new words. I bought this book for my 11-year old, and he didn’t enjoy it very much. The story did not intrest him because he says that the story didn’t really have a climax, and it just wasn’t his type of book.

Bought this for my 11 year old son. He likes it. We have been reading a few chapters together every night, now at chapter 22. Not a predictable book and has us wondering what will happen next. Will definitely buy more books from this author.
