I have a variety of instructions for detox fasting, recipes for in depth items, and how to make a variety of things that I don't want to lose if they disappear from the internet. I wanted a way to make bound booklets with the different types of things. I got this for that reason. HOW THIS COMES This comes compacted in a box. It is ready to go quickly and comes with the binder backings to make quite a few booklets and presentations. HOW I USED THIS Because I wanted to protect the different important papers I had, I put each paper inside of a thin plastic sheath which is made to protect the papers from damage. I put the pages with the paper and the plastic sheath in the machine, pressed down quickly and ended up with a perfect cut almost every time. The times that it did not quite make it through a part, I just pulled it off and it was fine. Worked like a charm. HARD TO PRESS? Even with the plastic sheaths on the pages, this was not at all hard to press and cut through easily. I just had to remember to do it in one swift motion. BINDINGS I put the bindings on the plastic covered pages and was able to do about 10-15 pages in each booklet. Without the plastic of course, there would be a LOT more room for pages than that. THE BOTTOM LINE This is a great machine. It has been a HUGE help to combine recipes, instructions and other groups of papers that I wanted to preserve and have in one place.. MY RATING FIVE STARS. I am so thrilled that this machine cuts through the thin plastic sheaths/envelopes for the pages. That is just what I wanted it for. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. ... show more

This is a good, simple 10-rectangle punch. I have not tested its maximum capabilities, but it handled 14 pages of 40 lb. paper with no problem (and that is a very thick paper). If you spend a lot of money at a copy shop on binding presentations, then the cost saving of purchasing this binding machine is a no brainer. It has quite a large footprint so you'll want to keep that in mind when purchasing this binding machine. This specific model of binding machine is not a fully automated version. You still have to snap the plastic ends through the rectangular holes this machine punches through the paper. This company has more "fully automated" models if you want something that will attach the plastic end via the machine and not by hand. While this machine comes with the plastic binding ends that can snap into the rectangular "holes," I wish it also came with, at the minimum, the plastic back covers that are typically used on bound presentation materials. I might be missing something, but I have yet to find any information as to the ability of this binding machine to punch through plastic covers. If it can I would be curious what the recommended thickness of the plastic is. I don't want to damage the binding punch by attempting to use it on a plastic cover if it is not meant to punch through it so I'll await an answer from the Seller. All that considered this is a well made binding machine. The handle can easily be screwed on and off, which is a bit of a burden, but the default position of the handle's springs keeps the handle upward, so it would be an issue if it did not come off. Style: Clip Binding Machine
This binding machine comes assembled so you can go to work with it almost immediately. You don't have to attach the handle like it shows in their video on the item. It only requires you to punch some cardboard with it a half dozen times or more to clean all the oils off the punching dies. It looks and feels sturdy until you start reaching its maximum sheet count. When doing 10 sheets of paper or fewer it operates smoothly. However once you go over that it starts having issues. It starts to feel like it could break as well as it tends to hang up on the paper when going over 10 sheets of paper. This is definitely one for use only infrequently so as to not fatigue it and cause it to break. If you plan to do a lot of binding this isn't the machine for you. The binding clips don't attach automatically with the machine, you have to do that manually when you finish punching it. If you don't center your paper in machine properly, your hole pattern will be cheated towards one end of the paper and your binding with stick out more on that end. Leaving it looking bad. That being said they clip on fairly easily and look nice. A decent machine for binding things if you need it. ... show more

If you need to bind once in a while, this is GREAT to have in-house, like in a home office or for people who need to distribute bound information in the activities they do. In my opinion, it's not robust enough for regular use in a busy office setting. However, those cost more, so using something like this (carefully) is a very nice option for home office folks. I don't do this often in my reviews, but I am going to refer you to the video that another purchaser made of this product. She went over it so thoroughly and covered every single thing about it completely, so there is no point in repeating a demonstration! I will say, as she does, that I was surprised that the spine wasn't a spiral. So take notice of that if that is the kind of functionality you require. Good for the home office. ... show more

This binding machine seems to be just what it was described as. The machine seems well made and strong enough to hold up to the constant handling during binding. There are instructions with it but it took me a couple times trying to make it work. Of course, the main reason was that I had never tried to use a binder before. It was easy to use after I figured it out. The price is great compared to the price of going to a printer to have binding work done. This will give us opportunities to do more booklets.
