    • High quality material and design, VERY POOR EDGES..
Let me start by saying that there are only two flaws that are causing me to give these tools a poor review. These tools appear to be made of very high quality material. Also the design of the tools, handles and pivots are top tier for sure. If the following flaws were nonexistent, I would give this tool set 5 stars, but unfortunately it isn't the case.. The two shortcomings that have me angry about this product are that on the curved cutting tools (concave cutters, knob cutters) the cutting edges are not offset enough, and the tools are not as sharp as one would expect for this price point. Let me explain about the offset curved edges. On curved cutters, the cutting edges are supposed to be slightly offset. If they meet perfectly, they will pinch or bite the branch off instead of cutting cleanly. The curved cutters in this set have a very insignificant offset (they almost perfectly meet) causing them to pinch/crush the branches I meant to cut. Also the sharpness of the blades are mediocre. These two flaws are enough to earn a very poor review because I payed more than triple the going price for a set of this size, expecting them to be of much higher quality and was very disappointed. It also didn't help that they arrived late. Luckily I am a skilled knife sharpener, so I fixed the tools and now they work just as good as some even more expensive tools.     • Excellent Quality Tools For an Excellent Price - Don't buy Japanese Tools any More!
I am the owner of the youtube channel Corcal Trees. ( Spanish Channel ) I spent a lot of money in the past buying Japanese tools. I don't do that anymore since I discovered Tian Bonsai Tools. I have been working on trees with these tools for over 6 months now. These tools have been literally punished and mistreated on a daily basis and they still feel brand new, well oiled and incredibly sharp. There is no doubt in my mind that the Master Grade tools series from Tian bonsai was conceived by a very talented tool master and manufactured with top quality engineering and materials. In the past months I have purchased several other tools from the Master Grade series: Knob Cutter Concave Cutter Tian Bonsa Tools Master Quality Stainless Steel 290 Mm (11.5") Master's Wire Scissors Tian Bonsai Tools 115 Mm (4.5") 5Cr15MoV Stainless Steel Very Powerful & Durable Long Handle Scissors Master's Bonsai Scissors the Best Quality From Tian Bonsai Tools 180 Mm (7") I haven't been disappointed yet. I bought every kit on Amazon up to $500. This set was my favorite. All the others had terrible grinds on the cutting edges, the action was way too tight, had sharp excess metal from the stamping process or just had straight up terrible workmanship. I went with a stainless set because these tools are not ones I use often and I don’t need to try and remember to check if they’re rusting and need oil. ... show more

    • Not As Good As I Hoped :(
I was super excited to get these tools, but they are not as good as I hoped. They look amazing and arrived very sharp; however after about a month of regular use, the branch cutters are already quite chipped and dinged on the cutting edge. Not quite masters grade in my opinion.

These tools are 1st class. All cutting edges line up correctly and work smoothly. Come lightly oiled and inside a nice zippered case. I am very happy that I went with the extra cost for these tools. Would not hesitate to buy others from this manufacturer.
