  • They run big according to my foot
First pair of Thursday boots and I really want to like these. I needed smooth toe black boots that were dressy enough for use with a pilot uniform but also durable enough for banging around flight deck and outside ramp use in the elements. Time will tell whether they are durable but they certainly are handsome looking. My biggest concern so far is sizing. They run big. I have a somewhat narrow foot, I would say US8.5 C width, although I wear US9 in sneakers and US8.5 in other dress shoes or boots and have for 40 years. Unfortunately Thursday does not offer any choice in widths. I communicated my concern with Thursday via email a couple times and used their size calculator. In every instance they recommended a US8 in this boot and that is what I ordered. The boots are huge on my feet, not in length but in width. I have 2 sets of insoles installed and still my foot rubs around when walking. I'm not sure if I will be able to use these for work as they are rubbing blisters so far. Almost makes me wonder if I got a mismarked pair of boots (8.5). Pretty sure a US7.5 would be too short. Wish they offered C widths. ... show more

  • great boots but order half a size below sneaker size,
Size: 10.5 Color: Brown
these are great boots, solid, well built and look great, they are not the lightest boots around but perfect for wet, cold climates. They look good either casual or for work. I really recommend Thursday boots, I now own the President, these and just got matte black Captain boots. Like many I learnt to order half a size down from sneakers - so i went from an 11 sneaker to 10.5 boot and it fits perfectly ... show more

  • Need to Make Wide Sizes
Size: 11.5 Color: Black
I thought conditioning and break-in would work. 11 1/2 M too small caused pain on the top of my left foot.

Used these boots through out a harsh Chicago winter last year and surprisingly they have don’t have major damages. I love them and would totally recommend them.

  • Sturdy Sole, Thick Leather, Prone to Scratching
Size: 10.5 Color: Brown
Bought these as an upgrade from a pair of Alonsi chelsea boots that I kicked around the world in for two years and were finally giving out. These boots are, first of all, *hefty*. Solid feeling. Thick soled and with thick, sturdy leather. They are wearing in much more slowly for the thicker leather, but that's expected. They do fit a little large, but I also tend to size up because I have one foot that is wider than the other and I leave room for thicker socks in the winter...and for that these are perfect. Biggest quibble is the durability of appearance. I think these boots will last as wearable boots a long while, but it took less than a day for me to note scratches, blemishes, and scuffs in the leather. Even with a good polishing and conditioning, these imperfections are not going away. So these will not be "nice" boots for a long time, but they seem like they will be a solid pair of boots for a long time. ... show more

  • Absolutely beautiful and well made
The hardest thing about buying clothing and shoes online is getting proper fit. Once you get dialed in with a specific brand, then it's easy to move on from there. I see a lot of conflicting information online about how Thursday boots (and every other company) fit, especially because some people wear shoes that are too small for them and think they "fit," and others get shoes too large and put in insoles and/or wear thick socks. It's subjective. The words "true to size" are meaningless unless there is a frame of reference. No two companies have the exact same last (shape of the footbed), some are longer/shorter, narrower/wider, taller/shallower footbed, pointed/rounded, etc, etc. For a frame of reference, I measure a 12.5 in the Brannock device for length. I wear 14 in Puma and Nike, 13.5 in Adidas, 12 in most Clarks, and anywhere from 11.5 to 13 in other men's shoes. I tried 11.5, 12 and 13 in Thursday Boots. 13 seems to be a perfect fit, with room for my toes. Long story short: For Thursday boots, I wear 1/2 size LARGER than the Brannock length measurement. As far as the boots go, they are obviously well made and you will get way more compliments than you want. If I have a suggestion, it's that the leather inside the boots and on the footbed is quite slippery, so you'll slide around at first until they shape to your feet, lending the idea that they are too large for some. Get past the break in (typically 5-7 days of use) and you'll realize how nice these boots are. I've worn everything from expensive boots to Red Wing Heritage (beautifully made but rock hard soles except for the Moc Toe boots) and these really are a great value. They are cheap enough that you won't feel sick if they get ruined, but expensive enough to be well made and to remind you to take good care of them. Get your size right and you'll be happy: 1/2 size over Brannock device length measurement. ... show more
