Why is this not a normal boot? Well, if you are a shoe person at all, I'll tell you in a second. If you just want to slap these on and roll, know that Thursday and their products are awesome. Also, know that their "half size down" sizing was accurate for me.. I tried several, and stuck with this original recommendation. Now for some juicy details (which I'm only able to bring to you because a guy on YouTube cut one in half) *go check it out, very cool*. First off, pros: - Quality, supple leather uppers - Relatively short break-in time - Goodyear welt construction (superior to Blake stiching for water resistance and reworkabiility *resole friendly* - Leather soles with proprietary grips - STACKED LEATHER heel block, good for longevity and comfort, made of lesser materials (like compressed cardboard) from other companies. - long, sturdy laces - cork filling - classy look/silhouette - sturdy hooks/hardware - great return/exchange policy, which is great for ordering online. The cons: - the leather creases fairly quickly, because it is so supple. I'd invest in boot trees (the pair from Stratton fit perfect) - it's not a "true" cap toe, they mill down one layer to seamlessly blend in with the next, unlike a traditional cap toe being two full layers. - the black oils on this pair were laid on thick enough that they'll stained my fingers after putting them on and feeling the leather. Might stain light colored pants. - sizing was a little inconsistent from boot to boot. Tried my size in a different color before this one, left boot was more snug than the right, then that reversed when I got the second pair. Other info: - These are made in Mexico, but they do have a Made in USA line on their website for less than a third of the price more. - they are "designed to fit snug, but not uncomfortably tight".. mine felt tight walking around for the first few wears, then they got exponentially more comfortable. These have quickly become my favorite shoes to wear, they get more comfortable after every outing. They look great, they feel great, and at this price, you get some premium options that even some $400 shoes don't have.

I’m impressed with the quality of this heritage service boot for the price. Now I’m not looking to use these as “work boots” but for casual use. The Captains have a lot of features for the price. There are plenty of YouTube videos on construction and quality of these Thursday boots. I’ll leave that to others to breakdown. For me the leather quality and color choices were great. My color choice came down to Burnt Copper or Arizona Adobe. BC was the winner. I’m excited to see how this color takes on character over time. It looks great out of the box for sure (picture is after one week of wear) I’m really pleased that I ordered 1/2 size down from my running shoes, the fit is really good. Break in is going great. I have been using a heavy sock (really snug fit) and cedar shoe trees when not in use. The boots are in my dog walking rotation, around 2 1/2 mile sessions on sidewalks. Would recommend gradually increasing time wearing them to let the materials break in and naturally form to your feet. Some initial squeaky noice from leather breaking in, but that has dissipated and gone after a couple sessions. Looking forward to rocking these boots on a Europe vacation later this year. They can really dress up a casual look and I look for them to be my go to comfortable “urban” boots. Can’t go wrong at $200, competitive options are $100s more. The quality to price (QPR) is very high and hits the sweet spot for me.

Got these in adobe, size 9. They look great and are really very well-made. Super pliable and comfortable leather, good stitching, and the fit is great. Not much in the way of ankle support but these aren't exactly work boots so I'm not sweating it.

I rarely write reviews but I've had these boots a year now and am really impressed. I often fly to manufacturing sites and in the past have had to carry a pair of boots in my luggage. These boots polish up great and look good with kakis or jeans but are rugged enough to hold up well even when exposed to some pretty dirty environments. The fit was perfect for me. They take a couple weeks to wear in but from that point on are great.
