Adventurous, funny, self-deprecating author

If you are thinking of traveling by RV, this book explains the joys and less than joyful parts of living on the road. And she is very funny! At first, I thought this gal was sort of silly. Or then maybe unsettled, unpredictable. But, she, seeing her 60's coming up close, was looking for adventure. She was trying to figure out the best way to make travel easier and safer for a single woman with a dog. There's also romance. Funny line from her visit to Alaska concerning the supposed wealth of men: "Odds are good, but the goods are odd." I had the experience of having traveled in a small motorhome, so I thought I was pretty smart. But, the author convinced me I needed to change my vehicle for travel too. Along the way, I also discovered I was quite envious of her adventures. Even though I read this on Kindle Unlimited, when I finish this review, I'm buying the book. It was such an enjoyable story, I plan to visit many of the places she did that I've missed. And this is one story I will enjoy reading again.

interesting and an easy read

I enjoyed the journey although I’d hoped for a cameo appearance by my daughter who was in one of the towns mentioned at the time…oh well. Unlike many memoirs with hidden names for characters, I appreciated BF for who he was. Even with a nickname he came across rather (unfortunately) life like. I agonized with Leslie on her RV buying adventures; but my issues with solo camping have way more to do with lack of upper body strength than parking/towing but we each have our own cross to bear. I appreciated the healing insights as opposed to just descriptions of scenery, but my impression is that Eat,Pray,Love was highly fictionalized…makes it easier to get to a point of clarity, if you can just make one up.

Good relaxing read

Enjoyed "being" with the author as she traveled, exchanged the multiple RV's. I would never travel as she did which is why I enjoyed the journey, via her book,from beginning to end.

This book was interesting & made me dream a little bit about traveling all over! I got to find out about places I didn’t know about. She was very brave & adventurous to do this, most people would never even consider it. But she spends a lot of time talking about how her nerves are shot & needs to drink alcohol constantly, and a lot about her phobias & anxiety with driving the rv (nearly every page has both of these) & a goodly portion about having a boyfriend. I think (I hope!) by the end she has realised that she took the bull by the horns, changed a life she didn’t like, learned a lot of new things, had a grand adventure!!

The Road She Traveled

Being a full-time RVer, for real, I would say her book which is essentially a memoir or autobiography, seems true to me. We haven’t bought 7 RVs have ing spent two years researching what would work best for us, but her experiences are ones either we’ve had or traveling friends of ours have had. Covid sent a lot of people out on the road without the length of time needed for most to make the best choices. Being a traveling nurse, PA, histologist etc is for real. The pay is great and you can go where you want and move frequently to other experiences. I’ve met many and a family member is a traveling PA currently. Leslie wrote a real-life book with humor, and experience. I hope lots of people read this book and then try it!!

Loved this book!

I really enjoyed reading this book as well as with relating to do many events as I have lost the love of my life 3 1/2 years ago! We had six wonderful years of RV traveling all around the US! I knew my late husband would not want me to stop traveling so I bought a small 24' class C that I felt I could handle! Definitely had so many ups and downs and wasn't sure if I could do this on my own! This was something completely different for me since he was always my leader and I was his follower! I've had a ton of scary events where I would think the exact same thing, I need a drink! But I have also found the joy of accomplishment, a way to grief, to release!! My favorite saying was, I can hold the warm memories like a favorite candle and enjoy the glow! When I'm feeling down I will remember this saying because it has touched my heart! So thank you so much for that! Please keep writing! You have a gift!

Have you ever started to read a book and it was so good, you didn't want it to end? That's how I felt about this book. I love Leslie White's style of writing, her sense of humor and her ability to make the reader feel as if they are living and experiencing every moment with her. I hope she is considering writing another one, because I'll be first in line to get it. Highly recommend this book!
