  • Fun game
Style: Game and STEM Toy
I purchased this for a 14 year old boy. He did not even touch it. I, on the other hand, did all the cards and had a splendid time. I am neither bored nor have tons of free time, but the challenge was exciting. The game is well made, well explained, and just fun.

  • Best game for kids who want to hack EVER
Style: Game and STEM Toy
I've worked in tech for my whole career and started off as a systems programmer and this simple looking board game is hands down the BEST gift for a kid who says 'I wanna hack!'. Challenging logic puzzles that make you think and are realistic logical conceptions of hacking together a solution. i.e. this is far more realistic and inspirational than the kind of z-grade script kiddie weak crim nonsense people think of as hacking. I'm not a board game guy at all but LOVE that this is a board game - the medium is the message! Or is it the message is the medium? Where's Alfred K? ;-) ... show more

  • Great gift for a smart kid but it’s very complicated
Style: Game and STEM Toy
I bought this for my 11 years old brother who is very smart and loves to learn new things. He was very excited but the downside is that it’s very complicated—even for adults to figure out. You also have to have other kids to play with and since he is the only kid left in the house he doesn’t have siblings to play with often and it’s difficult to get other kids interested in a complicated game. If you know your kid and their friends would like it then it’s a good gift but they have to have people to play with them! ... show more

  • Great for challenging fun
Style: Game and STEM Toy
The game is a lot of fun and excellent for minds that like to be challenged with puzzles. It can be played by yourself or with another person. Definitely for ages 10+ but older kids would be more likely to grasp it.

  • Many design flaws
Style: Game and STEM Toy
The idea of the game is good, to set challenges and solve them. However, there were some design flaws that make the game not fun sometimes. We wrote to the vendor but they never responded, which caused the frustration of the Child and ceased to play it anymore.

  • Nice unplugged coding game
Style: Game and STEM Toy
Hacker is created by Mark Engelberg, who also created Thinkfun's Code Master, //CODE series and Chocolate Fix. As in the //CODE series, the game is not trying to introduce IT terms like conditions or loops, but to introduce the concepts. In Hacker, players are introduced the concept of concurrency. I only have basic coding knowledge, and so cannot comment whether the concept has been effectively introduced. But I think the game is really fun and has the right level of challenge. ... show more

  • Critical thinking
Style: Game and STEM Toy
Challenging puzzles. Bought to build and use critical thinking skills for me and my daughter. Can be played with by yourself and other. Each one is more challenging than the last.
