I left one on the roof of my car once and it fell off and landed on my concrete driveway. There were a couple of little scratches, but it was still perfectly usable. And they keep stuff hot forever. I've had coffee stay hot for about 12 hours. The lid is completely drip proof when closed. I even like the open bottomed handle. Best travel mug I've ever had. Keeps coffee hot for hours. In fact, when filling it for use all day I let it cool down a bit before putting the lid on on I don't burn my lips or tongue later! I filled it up for a long road trip and sipped it all day long, after 9 hours on the road, with the mug sitting in front of a vent blowing cooler air on it, it was still acceptably warm to drink at the end! Haven't used it for cold, but it should work well. The mug fits in most cup holders well, although the handle sticks down pretty far, I have to rotate it to clear the side in a few. The lid goes on securely and will not leak. Read a complaint that the opening wasn't oriented properly when putting the lid on... HOWEVER, I found that when screwing the lid on, you have it set to open as it seals so well you'll be fighting it. Cleans up easily and is the best stainless steel thermos I've used... actually, have a Thermos brand bottle that didn't keep my coffee as hot as this mug! The only way this could be better is if the handle had a closed loop and didn't extend down as far. Then it would fit any cupholder and one could hook the handle to a carabiner or case for easy carrying, especially since it will NOT leak when closed if the lid is properly tightened. ... show more

This a great mug. It keeps my coffee hot for hours as long as I turn the lid to the closed position. I ordered the stainless and looks great. I won’t need to worry about a colored coating pulling off. The lid is great with a hook to hold a tea bag.

    • Quality, but Wish the Lid Would Line Up Properly

This is about the 6th exact item that I've purchased. Each one has been a great product, but after everyday use, I eventually wear them out or scuff them up enough that I buy a new one. They do last, as I could probably hold onto the older ones, as they still function properly and do not leak. Performance wise, the keep my coffee hot all morning long. I leave the house at 430 am, and if any coffee is still left, it's still hot by noon. That's quite impressive. What's equally impressive is I've never had a leak. It's easy to clean, and it looks nice as well. My only complaint, and others have mentioned it, as you crank the lid tight, the drink hole does not line up in a 90 degree ergonomic line with the handle, so as you're grasping the handle and pouring it into your mouth, you're not lined up the way that a mug or cup was mean to be. Sure it's just a matter of adjusting your mouth or your grip, but with a mug of this cost, by a company as reputable as Thermos, I expect a little better. This issue has been reviewed on here for years, and this is a new mug and the issue is still there. It's minor. I'll still buy the product, but it's the difference between a 3 & 4 star product, and a 5 star product. This could be a 5 star product, if they'd just fix that issue. ... show more

I like the handle design, it lets me carry the cup hooked in my back pocket when I am busy. I really liked the original that had the push button lid but this lever controlled lid is an improvement over the original. The lid design is 2 layers which helps keep drinks hot longer, better than my Yeti's. It's well made and ruggedly built, I will be buying more of these. ... show more

We love the THERMOS travel mugs they keep your hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold. These mugs are comfortable in your hand and fits nicely in your car mug holder. With this said, the lid seal sometimes can be a challenge after washing, but when you get more proficient it will be easier.
