Purchased the green with orange accents (our 2.5 year old son selected that color). He likes ICE COLD water: like, fill the thing with ice, and then add only as much water as needed. We had a plastic Contigo (non-insulated) and after a few hours there wouldn’t be anymore ice. So he was not drinking as much as he should. This water bottle has been the most successful in getting him to drink the water he needs to during the day at preschool. He likes the push-button-to-open feature, and the small, flexible straw allows him to sip and sip and sip without getting too big a swig - no coughing and choking from a mouthful of water. The lid needs a strong push to close, but our son has been capable of doing so and doesn’t complain or ask for help. He likes the handle to carry it. Bought it for my kindergartener. Survived the school year despite numerous drops, including rolling under a car during school pickup. No leaks until my kid chewed the straw portion or did not close the lid. The straw portion can be replaced, Thermos sells them (highly recommended purchase).

When laying on its side from a fall it leaks. Not a little leak, but a lot of water leaks out through the straw. Sad cuz we have others of this brand so it was a trusted buy.

    • Fantastic water bottle for Kindergarten!
Somewhat leak proof (I wouldn't use for anything but water) and great for my kid to take to Kindergarten. Handle is great for carrying, it fits well in side backpack pockets, and the button closure works well for small hands. The straw is slightly difficult to get out of the mouth piece for cleaning, but otherwise it is very easy to clean as long as you have a straw brush. The only things that would make this better is if it was more leak proof and if the straw was wider. My kid ends up drinking tiny sips because the straw is thin and requires a lot of suction. ... show more

    • PERFECT for my toddler
I did a ton of research because I really wanted something that wouldn’t leak and that my 3 year old would like/use. This was the perfect purchase. I bought it two months ago and have used it every day. I send it to preschool with my son, loose in his backpack because he doesn’t have cup holders and it has never leaked once. He can open it and close it by himself. He has to push kind of hard to close it, but he’s been able to do it every time and never complains. I think he enjoys the satisfying click of the lid. If you open the lid and turn it upside down and shake, then water will come out of course. If you’re looking for a water bottle that won’t leak when opened, I don’t think that exists. As far as cleaning goes, it’s very easy to take this water bottle apart. The soft part of the straw is small and angled so if you want to be really thorough, you need a straw cleaner or I just rub the long bristles of my scrub brush inside. I run all the parts through the dishwasher about once a week. The bottle has never smelled or molded. Also, my son likes to chew on straws and this straw has never shown any wear.
