  • Keeps its cool
Size: 280mm Style: Floe
Pros: Running a Revit render, my AMD Ryzen 5700 never exceeded 53C at 100% CPU utilization. Revit uses CPU and not GPU for rendering. Thermaltake software allows you to monitor temperatures, and fan speeds. IT would be nice it you could see those things from the task manager, but I don't monitor them that close. CON: When I first got it, it was completely silent, but I rebuilt my computer and now the pump makes just a little ticking noise, that is barely perceptible. The noise does concern me some on if there is a problem with the pump, but so far it is still working great. NOTE: I am not a fancy light guy, i keep my desktop behind a door in my computer desk. I can see the lights out the back of my desk. Under Windows I can turn them off, but under Linux I cannot. There is some software for Linux that is supposed to turn off the lights, etc... but I have not tried it. They do not bother me. Overall, I am happy with my purchase and would recommend to a friend. ... show more

  • Excellent Entry Level Water Cooling at Reasonable Price
This is probably one of the best AIO coolers I have ever installed in a computer system. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking to get their temps under control. I am primarily a workstation, coding, multi-VM, type of power user, who happens to play games every once in a while. Water cooling is not just for gaming and is a powerful component to have for any type of user, so don't let such a simple misconception keep you from enjoying prolonged component life and quieter system operation. There are a few key things to watch out for though: 1) This matters more for those who will mount the radiator at the front of their case: When measuring your setup to determine whether the rubber hoses are long enough, do not take a linear measurement from the area in your case where the radiator will go over to the CPU. The rubber hoses are thick and the way they are mounted with a 90 degree elbow at the CPU bracket do not let them lay very flat, they maintain a rather rigid curve to the radiator. Instead, measure more in a half moon shape from the radiator area over to the CPU. This will give you a better idea if you are going to have enough length to work with. If you happen to be mounting this on the rear or top of the case where the radiator is in closer proximity to the CPU, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. 2) When you first turn this on, do not be surprised if there is a lot of noise coming from the motor in the CPU block, including vibrations, gurgling, bubbling, gremlins, gnomes, or other unnatural sounds that may come from it. During shipping there is no telling how many bubbles have been spread throughout the hoses, radiator, and CPU block. As long as it sounds like something is moving in there, let it run for several minutes. It took about 5 minutes before the pump on my system had managed to cycle enough fluid to situate all of the air bubbles where they belong, and the system went dead quiet as soon as it did. It hasn't made a peep since and has been running silent and flawless for days. If you are concerned about thermal damage to the processor, remove the RAM from your motherboard so it fails to POST but still maintains power to accessory fans. This will allow you to clear the system without putting any actual thermal stress on the CPU. If you're still nervous after the bubbling sounds go away, boot to BIOS and watch your CPU temps from there for a few more minutes to make sure everything looks good. 3) The CPU block comes with some thermal compound already installed and ready to go, which is great if you so happened to forget to buy any before wanting to install this kit. So right out of the box, this is ready to go which I thought was quite nice but not clearly advertised anywhere. Now, for those who intend to use this for more high-end processors, heavy gaming, overclocking, etc then I might suggest having an extra plastic scraper handy and scraping this off the copper block so you can cleanly place your own desired thermal cooling paste of choice (Arctic, Deepcool, Grizzly, etc.) on instead. 4) It doesn't take a super nerd or computer genius to install this, though they may be able to complete the process faster. If you take your time and go slow, just about anyone can do this on their first try without issues. When in doubt, check out Google or YouTube - there are tons of walk through videos for installing AIO (including this exact one) which cover just about any question you could possibly have. ... show more

  • budget friendly and high quality
Size: 280mm Style: Floe
I love this product. I don't like RGB, so I downloaded the TT RGB Plus software to shut them down. I combined this cooler with the Kraken G12 on my RTX 2070 Super. It feats perfectly, and the results were absolutely stunning. before the GPU core was 78-80 deg in core and hotest part 93+ deg, now 39-42 core and 54-6 hot part. The pump is sometimes bit loudy, but if I max out the pump speed it becomes silent very budget friendly and high quality. recommended. ... show more

  • Great AIO Cooler for a very reasonable price
Size: 280mm Style: Floe
My 7 year old Corsair H115i aio water cooler had degraded to the point where it would not keep my old AMD 8350 cool so I was looking for a replacement 280 mm aio water cooler and came across this new ThermalTake 280 mm cpu cooler for $69.99. Not sure why it was so cheap but I snapped it up and was not disappointed. Instead of 65+ C (and climbing) CPU temperatures it is maintaining the cpu temperature in the 30-35 C range during normal load. So no more high temperature shutdowns. It is a high quality cooler with all the LED bells and whistles (not that I need them but it keeps my case exciting). Apparently aio water coolers lose coolant via permeation through the rubber tube walls over time and as a result have reduced cooling capacity. My old cooler lasted 7 years so I am happy with it. I suppose I could have attempted to take the pump apart and refill it but at $70 for the TT cooler I opted for it instead. As far as the low low price, the only thing I can figure is Amazon must have excess stock and was trying to manage it. I have seen this pricing strategy before at Amazon and have taken advantage of it when I can. ... show more

  • Good AIO
Size: 280mm Style: Floe
As far as AIOs go this is a decent setup. Not too hard to install and very feature robust on RGB software. My biggest complaint is the fans get power AND control from the controller that it comes with and do not interface with your mainboard at all. This makes the control for them 100% software based, having to run the Thermaltake utility every time you restart your machine (it does retain memory after closed as long as you don't restart). My experience with AIO vs air cooled: I have tried a couple of AIOs and this one is thus far the best for the money. That said AIOs seem to have one major flaw and that is ambient room temp. As the room I am in heats up (I run a few machines and it can get warm in here) the AIOs base temp also increases, and it does not respond as well to increased fan speeds as an air cooler does. I would say the AIO performs better overall but the gap decreases a ton on warmer days. All that aside the AIO is a cleaner looking install and still outperforms the air cooler even if only slightly. ... show more
