Description

When it comes to ultralight sleeping pads, the Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XTherm Ultralight Backpacking Air Mattress offers the most warmth-per-ounce for backcountry pursuits. Trusted by mountaineers worldwide, the XTherm delivers lightweight packability, boasting a 7.2 R-value for year-round warmth (R-value measures the material’s ability to insulate; the higher the R-value, the warmer the sleeping pad). Proprietary reflective ThermaCapture technology traps radiant heat within the pad, while the Triangular Core Matrix minimizes heat loss during sleep. Baffled internal structure provides support and comfort in a 2.5-inch inflated mattress, for a restful night in the backcountry. The two layers of triangle baffles create hundreds of individual cells to retain warmth and protect from the cold. Available in two styles: Equipped with the Standard Valve, or equipped with the WingLock Valve which is able to inflate a pad three times faster than a standard valve thanks to a larger barrel and optional one-way inflation. Standard Valve models include stuff sack and repair kit for fixing punctures, and WingLock Valve models include a pump sack (for easier, breath-free pad inflation), a stuff sack and a repair kit. Made in the USA. Manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranty.

  • Slow leaks and thermarest doesn't respond to repair/warranty claims
I was really hoping for a better product from thermarest. I'd consider myself an avid backpacker going on multi day trips throughout the year. I treat all of my gear with care, but after 1 year the pad continues to have a slow leak. I'll go to bed, wake up at 2a on the ground. Fill it back up, and be on the ground by 7a again. I've tried numerous times soaking it in the bathtub to find the leak with no luck. The worst part though is trying to get this warrantied or repaired through thermarest. I've reached out to them online (was told it would be a 6-8 week delay) and called them (only to wait 10min on hold then being forced to leave a voicemail with no returned call). I've used many other outdoor brands in my years in the back country and never had this poor of service. I'd advise anyone else to shop elsewhere. Btw, this sleeping pad is great! It weighs next to nothing, is super warm even on winter nights, and very comfortable given it's weight and size. Unfortunately it's only great and works if it stays inflated, which is a bummer ... show more

  • Well worth its weight.
This thing changes hiking for me. Its freaking expensive. Its all crackly. Its a bit heavy for light hikers. I don't care. I saw some reviews about how long it takes to blow this thing up. Just spend a few minutes breathing into it. I can sleep on my side, sleep on my back. After a long day of hiking this thing will keep me warm and comfortable. I slept on it last night and it was wonderful. I tried lighter and smaller options. This thing does not leave my arms resting on the ground, or my legs. I am 6' 2" and it fits my body great. ... show more

  • Hands down the best camping/backpacking investment you can make (aside from a good knife)
This is hands down the best camping/backpacking investment you can make. I also own a klymit static V which retails around $50. The difference is astounding. Jaw dropping. Magnificent. This sleeping pad will actually keep you completely off the ground no sagging no bowing. Now deflating or shifting of air in high pressure areas. I weigh 150 lbs and can stand (with some balancing effort) in the middle of the mat with both feet and not touch the ground. Granted if I put all of my weight on one foot, I do touch the ground. But that's 150 lbs of weight across 8" or so. That's that it takes to touch the ground in this thing! My hips touch the ground when I use my klymite if that gives you reference points. I purchased the regular and am 5'7" and it fits perfectly. Anyone taller will want to go with the long version. Also my arms, if outside the sleeping bag will not be on the pad if I'm a back or belly sleeper because the pad is to narrow. (I'm a side sleeper so it doesn't matter) so if you are a back or belly sleeper, go with the wise version. I have not yet experienced the effects of the "therma" part because I have owned this only for about 15 minutes now, but I can tell you that my klymite was not insulated and I went camping in early spring when it got down to the 30s at night and I was fairly cold- especially since I was practically laying on the ground. There are 2 bags that came with it, a stuff sack, and an inflation sack. The inflation sack is bigger and has a small hole in the bottom that you fit around the air plug on the mat. You open the sack up, then close it and roll it toward the hold in order to fill the mat. Took me about 3 minutes doing it this way. At the end I took it off when the air pressure of the mat was greater that what I could put in with the sack and finished blowing it up with lung power. I will say that the klymite only takes about 60 seconds or so to blow up, so if you are using a bivy in a rainstorm, you have to ask yourself what's the tradeoff. 2 extra minutes of time in the rain or 8 hours of relaxing sleep? Up to you lol. This mat is worth every penny. I could sell my bed and sleep on this and be just fine. ... show more

  • Don’t buy this!
Bought this late January and just used today on a camping trip for the first time. This was a complete FAILURE, DEFLATED TWICE DURING THE NIGHT. Thank goodness for my $40 IFORREST pad that I had underneath otherwise I would’ve made it not made it through the night. The return policy policy is ridiculous considering it’s never even touched the ground! IM STUCK WITH THIS GARBAGE THATS TOO LATE TO RETURN. ... show more

  • Believe the hype
This is easily one of the best camping gear investments I've ever made. I initially cringed at spending so much on a sleeping pad, but it was worth it. There are simply no other pads out there that are as warm and light. With an R-value of 5.7 it's rated for use down to about -4 F. Practically speaking, it can be safely used year-round. I've used it in the high 20s F and it's insanely warm. But in the summer it remains comfortable — I've had no issues using it in temperatures up to 65 F. The reason that the pad cost so much is that it manages to be so warm and so light. The first time I used it on a 4 night trip backpacking trip and I was desperately trying to cut every ounce from my pack I could, I knew then that I had made the right choice spending the extra money on this pad rather than going with something heavier to try and save $50. ... show more

  • I slept better on this than I had for years of camping ...
Yes, it has "crinkle noises," but if you can look beyond that, it's fabulous. I slept better on this than I had for years of camping on closed cell foam mats. Loved my Z-Rest mats for their simplicity, but this blows that type of mat away in terms of warmth, comfort AND packability. Unless you're sleeping on a surface that is likely to cause leaks (cactus strewn areas or sharp shale?), use a decent ground cloth and you'll likely agree that it is much more comfortable than old school mats. I'm keep the Z-Rests for doubling up when airplane camping, but will use these Thermarests for me and my family when backpacking. If you're a solo camper, then the crinkling really s a non-issue, as there's nobody else to annoy. You'll be actually sleeping on this instead of tossing and turning all night, so likely won't notice. ... show more
