The Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XLite Ultralight Inflatable Air Mattress for three- season backpacking, mountaineering, and camping is the ultimate minimalist’s expedition sleeping pad. Offering maximum warmth for the weight, it's designed specifically for adding a padded layer of warmth and insulation between sleeping bag and ground in alpine conditions. Baffled internal structure provides support and comfort in a 2.5-inch inflated mattress, for a restful night in the backcountry. The Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XLite sleeping pad is perfect for lightweight expeditions thanks to its innovative tapered design and materials, which eliminate bulk, making it possible to pack the ground pad to the size of a one-liter water bottle. Available in two styles: Equipped with the Standard Valve, or equipped with the WingLock Valve which is able to inflate a pad three times faster than a standard valve thanks to a larger barrel and optional one-way inflation. Standard Valve models include stuff sack and repair kit for fixing punctures, and WingLock Valve models include a pump sack (for easier, breath-free pad inflation), a stuff sack and a repair kit. if you put this next to the model that was created three years ago, it is very noisy, you can feel the thin flimsiness of the material. I took the same model purchase three years ago on a through hike, and I still can use it today without one puncture. This looks extremely flimsy and sketchy and not impressed with the noisiness. The inflatable bag that comes with it is extremely useless. I hate the air release valve. It's too complicated. If you are laying on your mat and you want to deflate it slightly for comfort, you cannot reach behind your head and simply twist the vowels to really summer and re-twist it to tighten it with this air release valve you have to get off the mat to handle the mechanism with your whole hand not just two fingers. ... show more

This weighs more than advertised. Not by a lot, but when you are in ultra light gear arena grams matter. The complete kit (stuff sack, mattress and repair kit) is 258 grams. It is 236g (8.25 ounces) just for the mattress.

the only issue i have with this pad was that i chose the wrong size. im a side sleeper and i roll around, definitely need the wide version. otherwise this bag is really great. gave my short one to my son and ill order me the wide. co-campers said it was loud. it definitely crinkles. lets just hope the sound scares away the animals rather than making them think of a nice foil wrapped burrito for a snack... ... show more

Bought to use as a floor in an inflatable boat, not as a sleeping mat. Works great for that. It's a bit crinkly sounding, so it might take getting used to if trying to sleep. But it takes sitting on and standing on without popping which is what I wanted.

great sleeping pad. I have used the old version until it no longer held air (9 years) then sent it to Cascade designs who replaced it with the new version under warranty. This is the 3rd thermarest sleeping mat that I've had replaced under warranty so their lifetime warranty is legit. I use this (size S) for UL backpacking on its own, or layered above a Z-lite pad on mountaineering trips. I'm 5'9" and weigh 200 lbs so this pad goes down mid thigh and the rest of the legs either hang out over the pad if it's warm or fetal position when it's cooler. Inflating takes roughly 20 breaths on the old version, newer one is a bit less though I use the pump sack more often. Always a good night sleep with this, some potato chip bag noises if you like to move around in your sleep. I do advise using an external pump of some sort to inflate it, after a few years you can smell the gnarliness of your old breath taking life inside the mat. ... show more
