  • Bright and sturdy
Love this lamp. Bright light, sturdy base. Some reviews complained that the base was not sturdy, but mine is very heavy and does not tip. My only wish is that it came in black instead of white. But that’s minor.

  • Does actually work
I was worried when I read some of the reviews stating that the top falls down or that it doesn’t work properly because of the light settings - I ordered it anyway, and here’s the deal... mine functions properly, and it does actually work. I would not have bought into light therapy if my doctor did not tell me that she uses light therapy, and recommended it for me. Living in Wisconsin the “winter blues” are very common with or without anti-depressants. Yes, this light is very bright but part of the product description mentions the highest level of light output possible for a photo therapy. Yes, you can tone down the brightness for different settings-however, the difference is minimal. I assume this is normal because commonsense would tell you that photo therapy works by administering “light” therefore it must produce light (what you are paying for). I’ve only been using mine for one week and almost from day one I noticed an improvement in my morning mood. For example I don’t feel like going back to sleep right after I wake up. I truly doubt that this produces a UV light. My guess is that if you have irritation after using it you likely sat too close because it does produce a bit of heat. I would recommend this to anybody who feels the “winter blues” or could use a booster in their overall mood. Definitely worth the money! ... show more

  • Great option for those undecided about this whole light therapy thing
Yay: - As a matter of personal anecdote, I gotta say this light really does what it claims to do: lift up your mood from the blues, energize you a bit when you wake up at 7 in the morning and the sun is still nowhere in sight. - The build itself is not what I'd call exemplary but hey it's functional, it stands, good balance, the lamp head (read: the actual light source) can be adjusted. You get what you pay for, can't complain with that. - It might just be me but even at its weakest setting, I still find the light too glaring for normal use. The good news is it is easy to attach a piece of paper to the light source to diffuse the light. You can make it to look cozy this way. (Note: I know that it's not completely advisable to attach flammable things to light sources, much less _strong_ light sources but so far I haven't had a problem with it. Diffuser or no diffuser I don't notice it heating up. Then again if you need this lamp you probably live in northern climates where the temperatures are low. Plus, I haven't really used it for long stretches like this. Caveat emptor!) Nay: - The switches are not mechanically actuating. They lie flat on the stand of the lamp and seem to be triggered by touch. My big big gripe with this is that this makes it more difficult that usual to turn this lamp on in the dark. ... show more

  • I improved the positioning issue myself
**UPDATE:#2 Really a best buy a yr and a quarter later: {Purchased 1 time Last purchased Sep 1, 2024} As of 12/18/2025 It's as solid as day 1 and I grab it by the neck tucking it under the side table on which I use it and pick it up next morn for my morning of coffee and time wasting (like now) I used it every day from Sept-April last year and again since Sept '25 I'm assuming those who raise and lower the head every day tightening/untightening the knob may find it less stable but having reversed the head as I demonstrated in original review I haven't so it's rock solid still. I hope they figured out how to offer a comparibly priced model with a rotating lamp head to accommodate balance in any position but as I already have I don't need to shop for another one UPDATE:(1) Four mos & still perfect: I use everyday 30-60 min as in my pics, base backward with lamp hanging over edge of end table 18" fr where I sit at sofa's end, I don't change the angle of the head just set it on floor next to my table after use. I stand happy with my hack of reversing the head to get closer to it. **One thing I discovered is no need to keep tapping the button to get it on/off, raise/lower brightest there is a slight latency before the lamp responds to touch - Just touch & wait a second - the buttons are not badly designed - there's no tactile feeling in touch controls.** -I am a believer at an hour per morning at approximately 18 inches from it Seems to be having an effect but it's not winter yet. The design is stupid as the range of motion is limited, You're unable to raise head to full vertical position leaving it angled slightly downward at highest. The weight and permanent position of base of the base prevents you from bringing light to the edge of a nightstand table. I removed the positioning locking knob pushed on exposed threaded end of hinge pin pulling it out CAREFULLY Gently moved it till the head barely moved enough for both sides to separate (DON'T PULL HARD THERE'S LITLE SLACK IN ELECTRICAL CORD INSIDE) Turned the head had to replace the toothed gear locking discs which fell out so note how they seat so they're like mine seen in my photos returned to the 4 toothed sides of the washers can meet to lock when you return them into place as I did then rocking the hinge pin back carefully flexing the now backwards facing lamp head to find just the minimum amount of flex in the interior cord to pass hinge pin thru then put the tension knob back and tightened in position. Works perfectly now straight up vertical so the stand power base actually seems more firmly weighted in place this way. To all those who's lamp head flopped - *You need to untighten the knob far enough to tilt head easily so the shallow teeth in the washers don't strip and lose the edges and take care to position the head minding that the washer teeth are meeting enlocked b4 tightening the knob FIRMLY so the head doesn't move. I only modified it after I decided that given the price I wouldn't cry if it broke in the 1st 6 mos of use "as-made" so I took a chance and GENTLY reconfigured it knowing I might void any warranty or chance to return but fully expected I might trash it and glad I did. The manufacturer should revisit design making the lamp head able to rotate 360-Degrees ... show more

  • Nearly perfect therapy lamp
I've only been using it week, but I love this lamp--and have stopped using two previous LED-based lights that sat on either side of my computer desk in the morning. The light is bright and the color temperature is warmer/yellower than some--more like sunlight and much more pleasant than my previous lights. The lamp was easy to put together and seems overall well built for the price. Adjustable brightness makes it suitable as a desk lamp in addition to providing light therapy from above. One thing I had not realized is that the direction of light may matter. Apparently some receptors that affect circadian rhythms are concentrated on the bottoms of the retinas, so light from above seems to work better--and my experience seems to align with that. An extendable or slightly longer arm might have been ideal for me personally. Still, I seem to be getting noticeably better results with this light than what I was using previously. Tempted to buy another... ... show more

  • Enjoying It
Very bright! The light feels nice and warm. It’s a bit top heavy so be careful.
