  • Another Great by Mort - Black Mass part 2 ?
Another work by the great Mort Garson. Recorded about the same time as PLANTASIA but thematically very much akin to his earlier LUCIFER-BLACK MASS (sharp eared listeners will recognize a couple of "callbacks" to that album). This work doesn't seem to get all the press that some of his other works do but it is a great album. How would I describe it? If you took the soundtracks of IN SEARCH OF and PROJECT UNIVERSE and threw in an occult bent... you would be headed the right direction. If you are into early analog synthesizer music and personally I would say I like it slightly more than I do Black Mass... highly recommended! ... show more

  • One of the best electronic music albums of the 1970s!
What a fantastic album from start to finish! I highly recommend it to lovers of electronica, the occult, or those looking for something a bit more left field.

  • Oh how this album shaped my childhood... And 7 years ago I couldn't find it anywhere...
My whole life, this album has been a fixture, and in adulthood has remained a precious thing to me. My Dad, extraordinary man that he already was (cancer took him from us xmas eve, 2015), he of course had one of the most unique records in his pretty decent sized record collection. He had two studio quality JBL speakers he aquired in the 70s, a beautiful pioneer receiver, and his very precious record player. Every one of my early childhood Halloween nights in the 80s, he would fire them up, and put this album on, turn it up, open the windows, setup his giant black light outside, and turn our house into THE house on the street. Mom dressed me in my witch costume (which I wanted to be every year, btw) while this album played and kids would exclaim as they walked up, or little kids would actually shy away a little more than usual, while their parents were giddy. My sister and I would put the spray glitter and color in our hair, getting it on the bathroom wall behind us, grab our sacks, and Dad would wak us through the neighborhood until our feet ached and our very large sacks were absolutely full. The atmosphere that this album created each Halloween night was magical and creepy. And I will admit to ripping it to cassette when I was a little bit further along in elementary school, and listening to it whenever I wanted. Seven years ago, we found ourselves far from my old neighborhood for the first time in a long time, and far away from that record. Dad would have let us borrow it to make our first candy givig in our new neighborhood extra special, but we didn't have a record player. So I searched online, and couldn't find it anywhere. It was talked about, oh yes, by long time Mort Garson fans; there were blogs, and there was one attempt to stream it online, that I never could get to work. I settled for the Tron soundtrack. This year, we have found ourselves back in my childhood home, to take care of things in Dad's deeply mourned absense, and I have the very same precious record safely in my possession. But I was sick this Halloween, or we would have tried to fix his old record player and get the record going for handing out candy. Today, even with Halloween passed for the year, I got curious and googled it again. And there it was. More than one place for sale online, and CD on Amazon. I have to say I am very pleased to find it has surfaced and is available to people again. The price here on Amazon is a little insane, for most folks, but if anything ever happened to my copy, I admit... I would save up and get the CD and the record, even with the price here on Amazon. But a little bird told me that it is available online for a more reasonable price; a quick google search will show you where. Get it. It is a special collection of sounds. To put it lightly. ... show more

  • For Fans of "The Adventure Zone"
If you are a fan of "The Adventure Zone" Podcast, this is the album you are looking for! "Deju Vu" has been its theme song for most of the episodes. The rest of the tracks are also good, although that track has a special place in my heart. When I got this, I remember the price being around $25. The current asking price of ~$140 is simply too high, especially since you can find the entire album on You Tube. I did *not* notice any record pops or scratches on this recording, so I have no idea why people may think this was taken from a record. The mix *is* muddy... just like most mixes from 1975 (that were not engineered by Alan Parsons). There is still great dynamic range. And like a previous reviewer mentioned, it's a lot different than Mort's Zodiac Sounds album. Worth getting! ... show more

  • Ataraxia Conjurer of Moog Incantations.........
Many believe this is from a vinyl rip and to be honest I could care less as I dont collect lps for their inferior life span and because I can listen to gems like this in my car! So I for one am quite please this was released on cd medium. Now I will admit with chagrin I purchased this from another source in a sidewalk sale new sealed for next to nothing. Many people dont know who was behind this recording of dark Moogy goodiness but it was none other than Mort Garson who was not only a gifted composer in the pop world but an extremely creative mind at the dials and keys of a Moog modular. This is nothing like Garsons earlier works like the Zodiac based kitsch music he conjured up in the 1960s instead its darker, moodier, cosmic and rhythmic synthesizer music with an emphasis on the occult(thankfully no spoken word or vocals here folks!). I relish the fact that it isn't velveeta pop covers and some of the music here is I am sure the stuff in which influenced bands like Daft Punk and Air. There are some drum accompaniment but no musician is given credit tho they sound acoustic other percussion sounds are definitely synthetic very snappy in parallel with those warm punch Moog basslines! A really great Moog album more people will come to appreciate in the years to come....well hopefully! ... show more

Rubellan Remasters did a fantastic job with this album. I have the vinyl and just purchased the cd. Vinyl is nostalgic but oh how much better the CD sounds. Perfect!!!!!
