Boba Tea, also known as Boba or Bubble Tea is a Taiwanese, tea based drink which often contains tapioca, known as Boba, or Tapioca Pearls at the bottom of the cup. These Boba are sucked up through an extra-large straw and are chewy, kind of like a gummy bear. It is unclear exactly when or who invented Boba, but we do know where, Taichung Taiwan sometime in the 1980's. Most Boba / Bubble tea recipes contain a tea base mixed with fruit or milk. Some popular flavors are: Honeydew Melon, Taro and Matcha Green Tea Latte. The Boba is served most often cold, sometimes hot, and blended like a smoothie or shaken like a cocktail. There are hundreds of variants of the drink, the most popular Boba / Bubble Tea drink is milk tea with tapioca pearls. There are also variations of Boba, mostly with the color being or dark brown. The Boba has a very mild sweet taste. Some shops also add flavored gelatin, also called jellies, to the bottom of the cup. The newest type of Boba are called "popping Boba", pearl sized beads filled with fruit flavored syrup, that pop when you bite them. Boba shops are popping up all over the world. Ordered this for my kids who love bubble tea but can’t go out to get it due to stay at home orders. The kit took a couple of weeks to get here, but Urban Monk Tea Co. looked into the matter and resolved the matter promptly. Everything came neatly packaged in a white box. There was also a note apologizing for the delays and replacements. I received flat lids instead of domed kids, but honestly prefer the flat lids. All drink mix pouches and pouches of boba were tightly sealed with expiration labels on the bottoms. We opened all the pouches and they all smell amazing. My favorites are the taro (it reminds me of vanilla marshmallows), honeydew and chai. I made a few drinks without the boba, with the honeydew, milk tea and taro, and they did not disappoint. They are flavorful, sweet and true to the flavor name. The shaker leaks a little, but serves it’s purpose in blending the powder. I have not made the boba yet, it will be doing so tomorrow. The boba came fully intact, not crushed or sticking together. Instructions are on the back of the packets. Edited to add: Made the boba pearls today. Followed the directions and super easy to follow. They turned out great, and storing the leftovers in sugar syrup. Used the taro powder with them with brewed green and coconut milk. Absolutely tasty! Overall, pretty pleased with this kit.     • Great Variety at a Good Price
Honestly, I was skeptical about getting this. Since it was a a lot of flavors and many extras that came with it I decided to take the risk. And boy is this one of my favorite brands now! I loved all the milk tea flavors and the boba is definitely amazing. Just follow the instructions and you will be fine. Personally though I would leave the boba to boil for longer depending on how chewy you like your texture. That's more of a preference thing though. I also found that you can add or remove powder to modify the sweetness level of these. but I prefer to add a bit of sugar once I get the flavor just right. It's been a fun time experimenting and figuring out what I like, and this was perfect for that. ... show more

The drink mix is amazing, the flavor is great and the instructions are clear. I HIGHLY suggest getting some of the bursting boba, you can find it right here on amazon, I got the strawberry/kiwi/pomegranate flavors, because the tapioca pearls that come with this are...well they're disgusting. Flavorless and chewy and just gross. The shaker is also a little meh, but the cups and straws are a nice touch, I bought reusable straws and a reusable boba cup because SAVE THE TURTLES AND EAT THE RICH. ... show more

The different flavors are delicious and the bubble pearls are easy to make with the instructions provided. My only issue with this set is that the recommended measure of powder isn't enough for a flavorful rich boba tea. I have to add more powder all the time. Got the classic pack. Taro is amazing and a crowd favorite for sure. Honeydew is good but definitely the lowest rating flavor of the pack. The tea flavors overall are exactly how you expect them to be. Tried with regular milk as well as several plant based mills and all worked great. Boba is super simple and easy to make. I normally don’t write reviews, but this product deserves it and then some!! During the stay at home order, I was hoping for something that would allow me to make bubble tea at home. I bought a separate glass shaker that was a bit more durable than the plastic one, but these teas were everything I could have hoped for. Flavor was amazing. Very easy to make. Great tasting and cute functional additions like shaker and straws. Tapioca doesn’t hold up longer then 6 hours. Recommend cooking for immediate use. Box was a little beat up so buying as a gift might be iffy. I bought these for my household and couldn’t be happier getting this product
