I do not usually say things like that, either. My three year old has never slept through the night and he still nurses. We started a bedtime routine of nursing in the rocking chair while listening to another audio book (the snail and the whale, Julia Donaldson, usually, also highly recommend) and then he gets in his bed with his stuffed elephant and listens to Alex the Tractor and I shut the door and he falls asleep by himself and stays asleep ALL NIGHT LONG. I swear to god if I ever meet the narrator or author of this wonderful book I just may fall to the ground and kiss their feet. It is also good for a chuckle for the parent overhearing the not-so-subtle suggestions to FALL ASLEEP RIGHT NOW . ;) ... show more

My child was so sure something exciting was going to happen in this book that he stayed awake until the end, only to be quite disappointed. I, on the other hand, was barely awake by the end of it.

This is a fun addition to our collection. We already have The Rabbit who wants to fall asleep and The little elephant who wants to fall asleep and this just adds variety. My kids (and I) are our within 15 minutes of starting the story. So worth it.

    • Good Idea for a real world book, but bad execution
First of all let me say I love the "The little Elephant who wants to fall asleep" book. It is the best out of the first two books in the series and it is great for all children. This book "The Tractor who wants to fall asleep" makes me feel the author went out of his way to write a farm based book not based on an actual farm. I was really looking forward to having a book that is based on everyday life and while it did include farm animals (a hen) and appropriate locations (veggie garden and barn), the story left a lot to be desired. The story didn't flow as well to me; it felt choppy with the first two characters stuffed in. It appears to be a money grab and to promote the other two books. The author has a smooth and easy to read story plot with Ellen the Elephant and he could have easily replicated it with the tractor walking/ driving home from the field to his barn with Farmer Gotobed. I think this would have been a lot better and there are so many characters he could have used. With all that said- I plan to keep the book and donate it to a local library in order to support the author. He has had a positive influence in my child's overall sleep habits. ... show more

I know the other versions of this have amazing reviews, but we took one look and immediately returned it. Please pay attention to how many pages this book is!!!! And it's small font so the pages go on, and on, and on. We were all asleep out of boredom by the first page. I hate to leave such a negative review but this just was NOT what I would think of as a children's book. It's a novel. ... show more
