  • Exercises that focuses on physical sensations to address trauma
The word "somatic" comes from the Greek for "body," so this approach concentrates on the physical body. It's a collection of exercises that focuses on physical sensations to address trauma. For me, the most intriguing aspect was this body-centered approach to healing. Somatic practices have the potential to be powerful tools for self-discovery and reducing physical symptoms of trauma. I could definitely see how increased body awareness could be helpful. However, there were a few drawbacks to the Somatic Toolkit book itself. First, it's important to note that these practices may not be for everyone. They can bring up difficult emotions, and it's crucial to have a qualified therapist guiding you through them. On a more practical note, The Kindle version wasn't readable in the browser version of Kindle (my preferred device), but it did work in the Kindle for PC and the Kindle mobile app. The writing felt a bit academic at times. What I missed most were the illustrations for the exercises! It would have been so much easier to visualize the movements if there were some pictures. Overall, the Somatic Toolkit presented an interesting approach to dealing with trauma, but the format and lack of illustrations made it a bit challenging to use on my own. Still, for those open to exploring somatic therapy, this could be a valuable resource, especially with the right therapist by your side. ... show more

The Somatic Toolbox is an incredible book. It is designed to increase self-awareness, heal trauma, and release stress. This book helps the reader to understand somatic therapy. It also provides the foundations of somatic healing to include even Aikido and Pilates just to name a few. The book helps you on your somatic journey, working through trauma, holistic tension release, enhancing emotional awareness, boosting mood and energy, and even enhancing self-esteem.   • Absolutely Fantastic!
I am so happy I found this book! Somatic therapy was recommended to me by a leadership coach I was seeing. Until her recommendation, I'd never heard of this but it sounded interesting so I started looking for books on it. This is by far the best one I've found. Not only does the author take the time to explain what somatic response is and how somatic therapy works, she also provides a 28 day guide to walk you through how to recognize physical responses in your body, understand, and work with it. It's been so helpful in every area of my life. My stress and anxiety are lower and I'm feeling more positive about life in general.   • Worth it!
I just started reading this book and very excited to get started. Ive been working through some trauma stored in my body and done somatic type exercises but now I have a workbook and a 28 day plan. This is amazing! I'll update my review once I comolete it. Excited to get started.
