Description

I hated Connor Masters as much as it was possible to hate someone. I hate the smiles he so seldom gives. The carefully uncareful swoop of his hair. The soft tone of voice he uses on the select few he cares about. The stretch of his shoulders beneath his shirts, broader every year. I hate him because it makes loving him easier. I hate him because he doesn't know I'm his. He should know. Even through the suppressants that give me horrible migraines, even beneath long sleeves and leggings that keep my irritated mating gland and injection bruises hidden. We've been drawn to each other since we were children. He should know. But he barely looks at me these days.He looks at her. This is a standalone novel. Read more

  • wish there was more
Want more, this book kept my interest and had me wishing for more. I loved that it “hit me in the feels” with tears and had a smile on my face when I finished. I think it could have had a little more want with the other fling because I feel that was left unfinished in my mind, maybe a pov from him to see how that played out but I felt content at the end with the main characters. Would recommend to anyone that loves a read from start to finish. ... show more

  • Great writing
I use my husband's Amazon account for Kindle books and I'm going to preface this by saying, I'm not usually an OV reader but I stumbled upon this book and gave it a chance so all that said here we go: The writing is great. No spelling errors and the characters are believable. I really was here for the story. The angst of Fmc is really well done without it being obnoxious, overdone, and in your face. Others have mentioned they felt like the last half of the book felt rushed but I didn't notice that as much. I think the story flowed well and came to a natural conclusion. It's an HEA that's realistic. I would've enjoyed an epilogue but that's just me being greedy. My one gripe: The OV verbage around sex took me out of the moment. But like I mentioned I'm not usually an OV reader so this probably wouldn't be an issue for regular readers. So if you're not familiar with the OV this isn't for you. I'm interested in reading Ms. Sellers' other works. ... show more

  • unique omegaverse story
I really enjoyed this book. It was a new take on the omegaverse for me (one mate instead of many). The story was full of angst, heartache, and steam. I thought Lana made a strong FMC, while I found myself wanting to punch Connor a time or two. 😂 If you’re a fan of the omegaverse, this is a great, quick read. ... show more

  • Really good potential, but a few things didn’t work for me
Warning, some spoilers ahead. I liked the premise. The FMC suffered a lot, trying to stay strong while her mate was off with someone else. The writing was actually really good and I will try another one of this author’s books. The storyline also pulled me in immediately. Connor left Lani all alone on the night of the mating ceremony when he promised he’d be there. He decided to stay with the latest of a long string of beta girlfriends but Lani ended up matching with his scent and going into heat and spending it alone, which almost killed her. He eventually comes back three years later, and they sort things out and end up happily together. Apparently, she always sensed that he was something more to her, and he says he did too, but never acted on it and instead slept with every beta in town for … reasons? Which I guess made sense, but really weren’t enough for me. It just kind of sounded like a dumb excuse. Also, whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy are authors still having the MC’s go around oblivious, sleeping with every woman who crosses their path, while the FMC pathetically waits for them in a virginal state because they can’t stand the idea of being with anyone else. It’s not romantic. It’s old fashioned, weird, and puritanical. It’s one thing if it’s a personal or religious choice, but when it’s just them pathetically waiting it ruins so much of the storyline. Like I said: the writing and basic storyline were great, those few things just didn’t quite work for me and I ended up annoyed with the FMC for giving in so fast, and not liking the MC by the end of it. ... show more

  • so good
I am a total sucker for rejected mates trope. Especially omegas. Yet many of them aren’t well done. I can honestly say i thoroughly enjoyed this and Lana and Connor. It was angsty and exciting and sad and happy. What Connor did was not unforgivable and Lana seemed justified. My only complaint is that the reunion and forgiveness needed more groveling and words spoken between them. I wanted to see rehashing of it all on page. Also the steam was good but I’m spoiled by the intimacy of roe hovat so it just wasn’t quite that good. But if this was another 100 pages longer of relationship development and groveling towards the end it would have been perfect but for such a short read it was pretty darn good. ... show more

  • All The Feels! Great book.
This book hit me in all the feels!!! It may be shorter, but it is packed with emotion. I loved both of the characters, as well as the dad!!! No editing needed, everything was well written. Highly recommend. I truly enjoyed this story. Thank you for sharing it with us.

  • Loved it
Its a really good book, it gets to your heart from the beginning, it has some drama but not so much it over takes the story, wish there was a little flash forward at the end but it's still a happy ending

  • Pretty good book
Overall, the plot and the characters were very strong and it was well developed and written book. I found very minor grammatical issues but again they were very minor. I think my only complaint was the fact that she forgave him too quickly. She came across as a doormat and I know I probably have pretty unusual standards, but I didn’t forgive him for the beta thing. And I really didn’t like the fact that she hadn’t never been with anyone else. I don’t think that was fair when he was gallivanting across the country with someone else and she was just sitting at home waiting. I don’t like that aspect. I don’t think that’s fair to women to box them into that Life but overall the story was good, but I think it would’ve been better had she dated someone else too. ... show more
