Description

I swore I’d never fall for another doctor. One rule kept me safe, kept me focused. Then he walked into my trauma room. Salt and pepper hair, eyes like steel. His hands save children, but they set me on fire. Thirteen years older. A single dad with two teens. The military tattoo on his arm holds secrets his lips won't tell. We collide in the on-call room—raw, breathless, addictive. Our chemistry in the ER is nothing compared to our nights. But the past has claws. His ex-wife's memory still haunts him. My toxic ex is a threat hiding in plain sight. Hospital walls whisper scandals, careers hang in the balance. And an offer across the country could be my escape. But my body’s holding a secret neither of us is ready for. How can I walk away from the only man who makes me feel alive? When the doctor becomes the fever— what’s the cure? • Good story
I truly enjoyed this book. It covers so many issues that touch my heart, step kids, hospital drama, ex jerks, and love. Emma was a rich character. If i had an objection it was i wanted more Marcus. But isn't that the sign of a good book,,,always wanting more!

  • A Quick Medical Romance with Heart
Dr. Emma Chen is a trauma surgeons in NYC. After a messy fallout with a fellow doctor, she's sworn off workplace relationships for good. But when Dr. Marcus Walker, a talented and charming new surgeon who is also a widowed father to two teens joins the hospital staff, Emma finds it harder than ever to keep her boundaries intact. As the lines between professional and personal begin to blur, Emma and Marcus have to decide whether their relationship is worth fighting for. I’ll start off by saying that I typically don’t read a lot of medical romances so going into this, I was very much taking the plunge. And boy it was worth it. This was more of a medical workplace book, very plot heavy with the romance being a little bit more secondary but it was a good read because it was something different for me. It felt like the right mix of a workplace drama, with emotions and politics running heavy, and the romance felt very natural. It was a slow building relationship, based on mutual respect and chemistry and Emma and Marcus really felt like the right fit for each other. I also loved seeing Emma slowly fit in with Marcus’s kids. The conversations around balancing Emma’s new role in their lives while respecting the memory of the kids’s mom felt organic and I loved Emma because she was so respectful. They were still dealing with the emotions of losing their mother and the way Emma really handled everything so well, the topics of healing and moving on, really well done. Overall, it was a nice light read if you want to get a break from heavier genres and I’m really interested in future books in the Scandalously Yours series. ... show more

  • A surprisingly complex story with great romance
This story resonated with me as a medical professional. Emma has to battle the "good old boys" and a vindictive ex in the medical setting. She meets Marcus who is a new physician in the department. He has a military trauma background. They initially knock heads but finally come to an understanding. After a particularly bad night, she breaks down, Marcus attempts to counsel her, but they end up using the on-call room for a tryst. Emma is sabotaged by her ex, and rather than continue to battle with administration she resigns and accepts a position in LA. She discovers she is expecting, while in LA. She returns to New York to consider working at her previous hospital. There is a HEA ending with a surprise bonus which I won't disclose. This story was well written with complex plot, believable characters and plenty of emotional trauma as well as romance. • No build up
This was fine, but there was no buildup. It was just bing, bang, boom, happy families. No one really had to work for anything, and several of the things that happened seemed pointless.
