Description

Most 3D printer owners spend a year solving the wrong problem. They tune the printer. They join the Facebook groups. They watch the YouTube videos. And six months later the printer is collecting dust, the filament is dried out, and they still haven't sold a single thing. The Profitable 3D Printer is the field guide for everyone who bought the printer to make money and is ready to actually do it.Written by Jeff Freed — 14 years building products with 3D printers, thousands of shipped products to real customers, creator of the lenticular builder software — this 460-page playbook hands you the formulas, templates, and decision frameworks that turn a hobby into a business. What's inside: The real income tiers behind 3D printing — Hobby ($50-200/mo), Side Hustle ($500-2K/mo), Full Time ($4K-12K/mo) — with the honest hours and printer count behind each tier. The true cost formula. Why filament is only 10% of what your print actually costs you to make — and the spreadsheet you can drop your own numbers into. The pricing formula that actually pays you. Worked examples, wrong-way vs. right-way math, and the markup ranges that work on Etsy, Marketplace, Shopify, and local consignment. The Channel Matchmaker. Where to sell what — Etsy, Facebook Marketplace, Shopify, Cults3D, local boutiques — with the wins and fails of each. How the Etsy algorithm actually works in 2026, including the original-design Creativity Standards that catch most new sellers. A 30-day execution plan with daily tasks from print to first paid sale. 9 appendices with the actual templates: pricing calculator, consignment agreement, boutique outreach scripts, customer refund responses, Etsy listing templates, pre-launch checklists, glossary. This book is blunt. No "you can do this!" cheerleading. No motivational posters. Just the math, the formulas, the templates, and the unromantic operator reality that gets a 3D printing side hustle to actually pay.Written with the assistance of AI tools and validated against 14 years of hands-on 3D printing experience. Format: Kindle
I purchased this to help my grandson start a business with his new 3D printer. The book is very well laid out, with step by step instructions on how to start making money. After being in multiple businesses over 50 years, I would have wished something like this was available for some of my previous endeavors! If you were to follow his steps as given without modifying anything you are sure to make some sales and learn to modify to your own process. If you are looking for a step-by-step process to sell 3-D printing, this is a great place to start. ... show more

  • Please do not spend good money on this book.
Format: Kindle
Please do not spend good money on this. I got it for Kindle for free, and haven't finished, but it reads like it was written by AI, and by that I mean it has wild inconsistencies. I'll call out 2, in the intro to the book, the author claims Almost every printer under $1000 is an FDM printer. He later says there are resin printers under $300. In reality a quick Amazon search reveals there are 4 resin printers available under $150 and at least 5 between $150 and $200. Later in the book, for What to look for in a printer he calls out a reliable build surface saying "A PEI-Coated flexible spring steel build plat has become standard." 2 pages later in What to ignore... " A new operator does not need a hardened steel nozzle, a klipper mainboard, a magnetic CoreXY conversion, a textured PEI plate, an enclosed chamber or an LED lighting upgrade. These are only 2 of the inconsistencies I noticed, however they are the two most glaring to me. If I cannot trust him to get things the same in only a few pages, how can I trust the plan he outlines for making money. My credentials include running a printing business for 4 years among 7 FDM printers. ... show more
