I ordered a used series and did not receive all six discs in the set. I had this set at one time and gave it away to a friend. However I enjoyed it so much and with being house bound thought it would be great to have and share.Used I thought it might be a slightly damaged cover or something. No problem I can live with that. But only receiving 4 of the 6 disc set did not make me happy.Perhaps the last time I settle for used. ... show more

    • Enjoyable collection of classic comedy films
Until recently the only Pink Panther movie I'd ever seen was the Steve Martin remake, which struck me as far more cringe-worthy than actually funny. On the advice of a relative I finally sat down and watched some of the original Pink Panther films... and while they're still incredibly goofy, they're quite a bit better than Martin's attempt (nothing against Steve, he's generally a good actor, but "Pink Panther" was not one of his better films). And this collection, with one notable exception, provides plenty of laughs and entertainment. This collection consists of five of the original "Pink Panther" movies -- the original "The Pink Panther," "A Shot in the Dark," "The Pink Panther Strikes Back," "Revenge of the Pink Panther," and "Trail of the Pink Panther." These films center on the bumbling and inept Inspector Clouseau, a French police detective who somehow manages to solve crimes and mysteries despite constantly causing minor disasters wherever he goes and driving his superior officer nuts. Clouseau is undaunted by his own ineptitude, however, and somehow manages to charm the ladies and (usually) solve the mysteries regardless of his own failings. Peter Sellers plays Clouseau as a straight-faced but incredibly clumsy man, one who is determined to keep pressing on despite constantly falling into or causing messes. Compared to Steve Martin's decision to ham the role up, this comes across as refreshing and much more fun to watch, and adds another element of humor to the films. The films get increasingly more outrageous as they go on, adding some strange sci-fi elements at one point, but for the most part they're silly but fun. The last film in this collection, "Trail of the Pink Panther," is the exception -- it's basically a string of flashbacks and random events that fails to entertain much, and even rehashes scenes from previous films wholesale. This is due to the studio wanting to make another "Pink Panther" film despite Sellers passing away, and doing so by reusing old footage instead of recasting the actor. This makes for a very uneven and boring viewing experience, in my opinion. The bonus disc in this collection includes a collection of Pink Panther short cartoons, with the animated pink panther that graces the films' opening credits breaking out into his own role. These shorts are also quite entertaining, and might be good for the kids to watch before the adults dive into the actual films. If you're only familiar with "The Pink Panther" through the Steve Martin films, you owe it to yourself to check out the original films. They're not masterpieces, but they're definitely comedy classics, and while you can skip the final film in the collection without any problem, the rest are definitely good for a laugh. ... show more

    • Poor quality collection
The dvds would continually freeze while being watched. Decided not to try and watch all the movies. Very disappointed in the quality.
